In this game is perfectly possible that using a tactic that brought me many success leads me to doom in another save, without any apparent reason. I'm managing Borussia Monchengladbach, the glrious Fohlen, currently sitting 16th in the League in December of the first season. Believe it or not, I've woon only three ****** games in the whole season so far, including a lame 2-1 over a lower league team in the German cup. Fortunately the board is extremely patient and haven't sack me yet, but they may get really ****** off very soon.

My players are all complete idiots: they always react stypidly bad to my team talks, even to the most logic ones. All of them are playing horribly: some of them are ridiculously overrated (Max Kruse, Raffael, Juan Arango), others have good stats but they just aren't performing at all (Herrmann, Xhaka, Dominguez). Only ter Stegen has played decently so far.
I'm planning to get rid of 90% of them asap and build the team from scratch, but now I must concentrate on save my *** from sacking. I have one month before the League starts again to buy the right players, so I need accurate advices.

The problem is that I've only got 3,5m for transfers, but I might be able to sell somebody to get some little extra fund. I've already bought Jesper Juelsgard to strenghten my very weak left flank; now I'm thinking to get Sadio Mane, which I've read is very good, but that would mean using all my transfer budget.

In conclusion, I need some advice on who to buy in January first season with 3,5m, preferibly:
- a left winger
- a striker
- a dlp
- a centre back
(sorted by importance)

Thanks in advance ;)

Gaitan is a good winger and usually available for loan.

Thiago Cassassola - Boca - Is a great CB and available for 1.3m at start of game, not sure if he will have signed a new contract by now.

Striking wise I would suggest seeing who is listed for loan, often in my saves Solomon Randon is available for loan.

DLP - if youre prepared to develop players - Mario Pugliese or Andrea Barberis (both available for under a million at start of game, not sure about January though).

Cheers mate, appreciate that ;)

Any other help, even not transfer related, is very welcome.

Norway, raid Norway.

CB - Strandberg, Semb.
DLP - Svensson, Selnaes, Diskerud, Stefan Johansen
AML/R/C - Drage, Midtsjo
ST - Rescaldini.

Hi Dark,

Although it is tempting to mass sell and produce a new squad, there can often be difficulties (morale, board confidence, implementation of new players). Are your players morale low from the current run of results? You could look at holding a team talk (Senior Squad - Talk to Squad). Acknowledge the poor form and insist that you can do better - this can have dramatic boosts to morale which can go a long way in improving short-term form.

Long term, have you considered the tactical familiarity and training set-ups? These can affect the way in which even very good players perform.

And in total agreement with FootballManagerGOD - Norway is a hotbed of cheap talent.

Hey mate, thanks for the precious advices. I'm pretty experienced as a FM player (been playing since CM 00/01) but this year's game seems a total random mess...

Morale is obviously low, I tried to boost it up changing the captain, arranging friendlies (at least I can win some matches like that) and squad reunions. Many times the players won't even bother listening to me, because SI games has decided that if you are an unexperienced manager it is perfectly fine to not give a **** of what you say, even if you happen to be the most influencing person in the world.
The very few times tat I actually managed to pump up morale, then the random defeats happens...AI scores with the only one shots that I concede, corner goals in stoppage time, goalkeppers saving like Buffon...you know, the usual ****.

Regarding tactics, I'm using two, and trust me when I say they're very good. I used them with great success in another save, and my players now are quite suitable for both of them.

I'm trying to sign at least Sadio Mane/Vladimir Weiss and a Norweigian centre back. If Juan Arango agrees to leave (that useless ***** has enormous wages) I might be able to sign a striker/DLP too.

The new year has begun with 3 wins in 3 games! :D So definitely a great result compared to my awful 2013.

Players in: Sadio Man?, Jesper Juelsgard, Giorgios Karagouins (loan), Fredrik Semb.
Players out: Raffael, Oscar Wendt, Juan Arango (released on a free) and some players of the 2nd team on loan.
Also Andile Jali and Julian Brandt (!!!) are coming on a free at the end of the season.

I'd also like to thank TheRyanFM for his tactic (derivated from Rakikan's Jurgen Klopp style for FM13) that is definitely helping me.

Congrats on your turnaround.
I am the type of manager who always tweaks his roster so the 'wholesale' approach appeals to me!

LOL, I was known as a 'mercenary' manager in FM 2013 who showed little loyalty to players. But since I averaged 28 wins per season, the Board and the fans didn't care! I'd discard useless veterans, and sign new young talent whenever they looked to improve my squad.

I was also known as 'the Tinkerer' because i used 3 different tactics and wasn't afraid to switch em up when needed!

In FM2014. I've found that getting rid of players seems about 10 times harder than FM2013!! Even players that are 'wanted' barely get their 'value' back in trade offers. For example, Coutinho is worth 20m, I get offered 13.5m by a team that is 'very interested'. OMG what?

And if I want to dump a player with high salary, who is a solid player, forget about it! Could not get rid of Sturridge or Henderson (each valued at 20m and 10m respectively) unless I offered them for free!! Their salaries are 80k and 60k respectively. To move them, I had to get creative and do some part exchange trades - which I have never done before this version of FM!! I got Holtby and Clyne so I'm happy with the trades. But wow that was HARD WORK!!

Glad it's turned around Dark! And as smoke says above, it's been harder to trade this year than most so you've done well to get rid of so many high earning players. Let us know if anything else crops up.

Geh ma Gladbach!

1st season is over: meda predicted me 9th, and I actually finished 9th in the League.
Considerind that I was battling for not relegate in January, it is a good result :)

Now I definitely have to strenghten the team. I need a striker (maybe I could convince Mitrovic to join, I never managed him before) a new CB (Stranzl is retiring), preferibly German, and possibly an AMC too.

ST - Mitrovic is apparently amazing, I've never had him myself. Veton Berisha is a good cheap alternative.

CB - Niklas Sule, Shkodan Mustafi, Alex Madlung, Marvin Commper all good German CB's, most likely available on the cheap.
Strandberg, Vegard Forren, Siyanda Xulu are all good alternatives, they aren't German.

AMC - Valon Berisha cheap and Veton's brother, Thomas Drage, Rasmus Falk, Etzaz Hussain, all good cheap AMC.

I've not had great luck with strikers so far on FM 14 but for CB I would recommend Shkodran Mustafi from Sampdoria & for AMC, Iancu and Stanciu from Steaua are great options.

Congrats Dark - onwards and upwards. What's your budget for your new players? If you're only looking for a solid CB, Marian Sarr is decent and affordable from Dortmund (assuming he is still there). Koray Gunter is also decent but he's Turkish but I'm sure he would be close to German nationality if he chose to take it.
If you could get Mitrovic upfront, that would be awesome.
AMC wise - Meyer from Schalke if you had money :) I don't play with an AMC on any of my long-saves so maybe someone else can offer advice there!

its like you are playing my Molde FM save as well FMG. I have 6 of the players you've mentioned there :P

Striker: Volland if you can afford him. Otherwise: Timo Werner/Rescaldani/Vietto/Facundo Ferreyra
cb: Doria
Amc: Conca is usually available for 300k second season and is an absolute god
