Help with Aston Villa!

Ive played this game since it was only CM manager and ive read all the theorems, threads, tactics dowload discussions etc.

I JUST CANT MAKE F**ing tactics.

no matter what formation I use, if the players are all in their best role (I use the role tool thingy).

anyway, got the frustration with this piece of **** game out of the way.

Im on my first season with vila, as you can see i play an attacking diamond formation. what I need is advice on how to become more aggressive in terms of creating chances, and generally dominating the game.

Im especially weak when it comes to playing away from home.

If you guys can help out that would be great, dont want to break any more coat hangers!
 
Try using a counter-attacking style of tactics,instead of going all-guns blazing.

I recommend using a simple 4-4-2 with a deep defensive line and a good ball-winning midfielder when pouncing on the counter.Villa do the same in real-life,so changing their style of play would be a little harder.
 
hey man, if you want to you can try use the tactic pack i made here below, seems to be doing pretty well! it does take a lot of time and trial and error creating a tactic for your team!

what i suggest is downloading one (lots of other great tactics out there too) and use them as "templates" to create your own tactics (or use them as is) carry on trying to build a tactic that suits your team and the players strenghts in it!

You are second in the league, so you can't be doing all that bad?
 
I think that could be because Aston Villa are second in alphabetical order? :P

yeah i know..it isnt that bad but im being a bit cheeky..in games against the top teams where technically they are superior to me I save the game and basically modify my tactic to see which modification works the best.

Either way it isnt that bad

Raikan - I have done that, used other tactics as templates but that hasnt worked, I used JP wood and it just doesnt work. The problem with my team is that I have 2 quality wingers, a very good playmayker and basically that would normally mean i could play 5 in the midfield. BUT i dnt have ONE striker that can work well on his own so I have to use 2.

A lot of the tactics available to download are these rediculous little things that ar used with Barcelona, Arsenal, Man city and the creators seem amazed that they work. I dont reallly seen any decent tactics for medium teams.

My tactic that uses 3 strikers (Carew, Delfuneso and Agbonlahor)

Only problem I could forsee is it does not use any wide players and thus takes two of your better players in Milner and Young out of the formation a little bit (Though could use Young as the ADVPM and then have Defour in the MC support role)

I did well with middle of the road teams and scored plenty of goals...
 
khodder - agaisnt middle teams I do quite well..just beat wigan 3 -1 away from home with 1 player less since the 14th minute..

its more a problem of doing well and managing to take on better teams as an equal..and not being dominated

The tactic worked for me with middle/average teams...I came 2nd in Ligue 1 with Sochaux, and am currently leading the Championship with Sheff Wed.
