First post ever so please be gentle if I have done anything wrong. I have been playing Football Manager for a few months now as My Mrs bought it me to get me off online poker. I find it highly addictive although quite impossible to understand where I am going wrong or in some cases where I am going right. For instance, I have been losing game after game for 6 or 7 matches with the same tactics and in my last match I win 5-0 against Portsmouth without any changes to tactics or personnel.
My question though is has anybody got any advice with my current game of Derby County? I am close to the end of the 3rd season of the game and I just dont seem to be improving one bit! The first season I got automatic promotion and in the second season I managed to stay up despite being 19th with one match to go. So I improved the playing staff again and am still towards the bottom with a few games left of this season. I am however safe from relegation and have been basically moving between 15th and 17th position all season. So anybody got any advise on how improve things for next season so I can at least say to myself that we are moving forward??

I leave the training as it is at the start of the game cause it too complicated for me, I play a foramtion
GK
RB CB CB LB

MC MC
AMR AMC AML
FC

I also have a few good players like Bellamy, Skjelbred, Commons, Michael Johnson, Appiah, Borysuik, Beevers, Diogo (DR), Wiltshire, Addison, Mattock.

At home I do OK except against the bigger clubs. I play an attacking game and get some good results. Away I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. I get battered by everyone.

Any ideas on how I should play with a smaller club in the Premier league or why im not showing much improvement in results would be much appreciated

Thanks

since your in the premiership and your team aint the best try play a slow tempo game against the teams that play high tempo games to take the momentum out the opposition by slowing the game down.

i would recommend you play 442 and keep it simple and play a dm type player like stephen appiah to play in the 'MC' area but more defensive with no creatve freedom at all to help your back four out abit. Where your other 'MC' your playmaker having him more attacking duties going foward.

read the TT&F guide mate, explains a lot, you can download it from this site.

good luck with your derby county season.

invest in taking time out to get your training and back room staff sorted. then maybe as ya man sed stick to a simple 4-4-2 nice and solid. maybee invest from the back line up because if you can stop leeking goals and you improve your midfield the your current strikers should start scoring.
