I have just bought the game the other day and set about it. Having had to go through all hard work to get it going (steam etc), I have discovered my computer is not quite powerful enough to run it but I'm gonna upgrade shortly to get it going faster and more playable.
Question is, why do I have to be connected to internet to get it going ?? Is there a way around this ?? I work nights and the idea of buying this game was to bring my laptop to work and play it at work. I had no trouble with FM 2008.
Sorry if there is any obvious answers but I'm not all that clued up with computers to be honest.
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Effy

the reason you have to go on the internet to start it is to combat software piracy, unfortunately it didnt really work. when the game was first released due to the **** up with the activation codes it was the pirates who cracked it first before most legitimate buyers of the game got it working.

hats off to S.I.

also i gather you are only allowed a limited number of activations with steam, so when you upgrade your computer and reinstall, since you've already activated once, that will be one of your lives as it were

You dont have to be online, im not to familar with Steam but theres def an option of an offline mode. However you could use Uniloc instead, pretty sure you dont have to be online for that.

Your 'life' isnt gone however, if you uninstal the game properly you get that 'life' back

Once you have activated via Steam you don't need to launch it through Steam. It's possible to launch the game without having Steam open or being online.

Ok, thanks.
So if I remove steam, FM should still work as normal ?
