help with profile pictures

might be stupid but i cant work out how to upload a image for my profile on here it just says upload failed and i cant find any pictures small enough any advice

Needs to fit the size/file type requirements.

Crop it in Paint/Photoshop?

I have no idea, but i'm just going to say.. Did you mean Avatar? Because you have a Profile Picture but if you want it to show like my cat for example, you will need it to be an avatar.
