I really hope there is someone out there who can help me, as this is starting to drive me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

Everytime i go to start my Football Manager 2009 i get past the kick racism off the pitch bit and sigames etc... then it just goes into a completely black screen, i still haVe my pointer on screen but can't click on anything, and the only option is to Ctrl, Alt, Delete and close programme!

Sometimes i get an error message before which reads...
''cannot use database file C:/Programme files/ceej/SportsInteractive/FootballManager2009/data/updates/update-920/db/920'-reverting to the default location.
... then it just loads and goes through the advertising and then the blank screen again!
Iv tried uninstalling and reinstalling, iv uninstalled with and withouth the patch and iv tried to open it from loads of different locations.....

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only reference on the SI boards to this kind of error I could find is when you move a save game started on a different computer to a computer without that database installed. So if you've got 9.0 or 9.1, trying to run a 9.2 save game seems to cause this problem.

Posting over at the technical issues section of the SI boards would probably get you some help.

edit: You could try this, which is SI tech help's standard 'do this first cos we haven't got a clue' answer:

How to delete your Cache files

First of all you need to turn on hidden files and folders. Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Tools' the 'Folder Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

Windows XP:
1. Open “My Computer”
2. Navigate to : “Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\
3. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder.
4. Delete the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

Wndows Vista:
1. Click “Start”
2. Click your username on the start Menu
3. Click on “AppData” and then “Roaming”
4. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder
5. Delete the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

Mac OSX
1. Open Finder.
2. Select <User>
3. Navigate to Library\Caches\Sports Interactive
4. Remove the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

And trying a clean install if that doesn't work might help out:

Thanks mate, tried the clean re-install thing, no luck!
Ill try my luck on the SI board! This is one of the most annoying things, as it just happened randomly as far as i can tell!!
I just got a random Blue screen memory dump (crash) and then since then, nothing!!
