Rhys Nelson hired as New Hibernian Manager

After the shocking resignation of John Hughes Rhys Nelson was appointed Hibernian manager, he is a long-time supporter and hopes that he can lead Hibernian to mcuh glory in the new season.

Hibernian 6 - 0 Hibernian Reserves
Benjelloun(4), Zemmama, Stokes

It was Morrocan magic that helped Hibs to dominate this game with stunning performances from Abdessalam Benjelloun(Benjii) and Merouane Zemmama who together scored 5 of the goals, Irishman Anthony Stokes rounded of a positive Hibees performance.

Berwick 0 - 1 Hibernian
Nish

The speculation of Hibernian Boss Rhys using friendlies as a way to test new formations was confirmed as Hibernian lined up in a less than normal way. However with Morrocan magician Benjii failing to provide it was Scotsman Colin Nish who stepped of the bench to head home a victory for the Hibees.

Forfar 1 - 1 Hibernian
Rankin

A perhaps embaressing result for the Hibees who dominated the opposition but only John Rankin made it count, before Forfar equalised 3 minutes before the final whistle to leave the men in green and white red faced.

Leicester 1 - 1 Hibernian
Riordan

It was another draw for Nelson's side who fell behind within the first 10 minutes but a stunning Riordan free kick taken from 30 yards out put them level, both sides created well but couldnt find an opening.

Hibernian 2 - 6 OM
Riordan, Galbraith

Despite the scorline the Easter Road faithfull will have quite a few positives to take from this result. The attacking power of the Leith Boys was shown today as the runs of Riordan, Stokes and Galbraith troubled OM for much of the match, with Mandanda pulling his team out of many sticky situations as Hibernian dominated the french side in the opening 15 minutes. However two counter attacks left Hibernian devesatingly 2-0 and a third goal left the Hibees going in 3-0. Hibernian came out the traps flying in the second half, as Derek Riordan exchnaged a one-two with stokes and left the OM defence red faced. However the french side made it a thrashing and at 80 minutes Hibernian found themselves 6-1 down. Galbraith was brought on for Stokes and a long ball from Zemmama saw him latch onto the half volley to bury home the Hibees second, a mere consilation.

Hibernian 2 - 3 Q.P.R
Stokes, Benjelloun

QPR came close to wasting a 2 goal lead when an enspired hibs side clattered 2 in within 10 minutes of the restart, but a penalty was enough to see the english side take victory, if perhaps a little luckily.

Hibernian 4 - 0 St Mirren
Stokes, Riordan(3)

A fantastic start to the new season for manager Rhys Nelson as both strikes Riordan and Stokes got on the score sheet and inspired a 4-0 thrashing of St Mirren at Easter Road to mark a fabulous start to the Hibees season.

Ayr 0 - 3 Hibernian
Rankin(2), Riordan

Another confident victory from the Hibees saw two Scotsmen take the points, John Rankin picking up two with Riordan's goal splitting them.

Hibernian 0 - 0 Celtic

A game against the Old Firm so early in the season can easily cause a confidence drop and leave morale shaken and for the first half Celtic threw a tsunami of attacks at the besieged Hibs defence but world class performances from defenders Chris Hogg, Sean Welsh, Paul Hanlon and Sol Bamba as well as keeper Graham Stack saw it go in level. It could be argued Hibs had the better of play with good passing and counter attacks that left the Celtic defence gasping for breath but neither side could break the deadlock, a better result for the Edinburgh side than the Glasgow one.

Sol Bamba and Derek Riordan both merit in the Top 3 Players of August.

While neither player claimed the award, Sol finished 2nd and Riordan rounded of the top 3 as the Hibernian men impressed this month, and hopefully the supporters will look to see the success continue into future performances.

Clean Sweep for the Hibees Youth

Paul Hanlon picked up the young player of the month award, topping of an all Hibernian 3, with Anthony Stokes coming second and Sean Welsh coming 3rd.

Good month, can we have a screenshot of tactics and leauge?

Hamilton 0 - 2 Hibernian
Stokes, Nish

Another good performance saw the Hibees extend their unbeaten run and run away with another 3 points towards their title dream and european qualifaction.

Falkrik 2 - 2 Hibernian
Stokes, Riordan

This result would have been poor for the hibees had it not been that going in after 45 minutes they found themselves 2 goals down, however on 46 minutes Stokes took on the falkirk defence alone slotting a shot across goal to make it 2-1 then a trademark Riordan free kick was taken, and ended up in the back of the net. Hibs looked more likely to win but couldnt convert again and it ended 2-2.

Hibernian 1 - 0 St Johnstone
Rankin

While the men in green and white would've been looking to win by more goals, the goal that was scored was struck from atleast 35 yards out as John Rankin scores a trademark Screamer.

Hibernian 0 - 1 Inverness CT

Hibs manager Rhys found himself paying the price for resting many of his key players, for 118 minutes his side dominated The CT but could not convert, and then, in a rare Inverness attack a delightfull delivery was met by the head of a CT player who converted magically to send the away fans into raptures, perhaps however a blessing in disguise.

Motherwell 1 - 2 Hibernian
Rankin(2)

Motherwell took an early lead on 3 minutes only for that lead to be cancelled out on 39 minutes with a screamer for mastermind John Rankin, at 83 Minutes it seemed to be heading to a draw, but up popped Ranking again to score a sitter when The Steelmen's keeper fumbled from a corner.

Hibernian Boss Claims Monthly Accolade

Hibernian boss Rhys Nelson has picked up the montly award for manager of the month. He was delighted with the award and says he hopes it is the first of many.

In Other News...

John Rankin's screamer picked up Goal of the Month while Darren McCormack was recognised as 3rd best young player of the month.
