High Expectations

Hi,

So i finally got the new fm and i love it. My last one was 2007 so this was really cool. I went with my old love Liverpool for an easyish start to get myself into it. I told the board i would expect to challenge for the title so that was grand.

Things were going really good but i noticed the fans don't appreciate me much. If i only beat a lower leauge team by a goal their match confidence would be a real low okay. I didn't mind this much til if happened for 3 or four games in a row. Like Liverpool winning four games in a row even if playing badly is hardly something to get upset about. The worst happened when i beat Man U at Old Trafford 1-0 to go top of the table, the fans said the performance was good and believe me the bar was barely at good.

So at the end of the season i lost came second in the premiership by two points and lost the CL on penos. The board tell me my efforts in the CL were good but that i was dissapointing in the premiership even though their expectations of me was to just challenge for the leauge. It's really annoying because i consider it to be a very good campaign.

Sorry about the rant i just had to get rid of my anger.

The liverpool board want way to much, final of the FA and semi final of the champions league is a lot of pressure.
If you stated you only aim for euro qualification through the league that eases some pressure as that only requires top 4 in league.

I feel where you are coming from, i suffer from the same frustration regarding fan expectations.

I took control of fulham and was told by the board to avoid relegation (which first season i just survived on goal difference).

Season two was told to avoid relegation, this time i could sell during the summer and start to build my own team and ended up finishing 13th.

Season three i finish 6th and qualified for Europe (went on a run of winning 9 league games on the bounce and enjoyed wins at against man utd and liverpool away)..not even given manager of the month btw.

Now im second in the league after 16 games(only losing one game to middlesboro away 1-3) i went all out attack and conceded late on. On monthly confendence report the fans still moan about that one defeat (Im managing fulham!!! who are used to scrapping relegation).

In my time as manager ive beaten Arsenal, Chelsea, man utd, liverpool and even won away in Italy against Inter Milan 1-0. (These fans should be kissing my hairy bean bag but instead they are just about satisfied with my overall performance).

Also when i sign a youngster and label him 'prospect for the future' means i plan to put him into the reserves or send him out on loan for a while (but the fans moan that it was a bad signing and why he hasnt played many games!!).

Ive signed Leo for 7.5 million and sold him a year later to AC Milan for 20 million.
Aquino for 7 million and sold him to Real Madrid for 25 million and endless more multi million pound profit deals.

Include 3 carling cup semi finals and 1 fa cup semi final.

Why i am not called 'god' by these worthless fulham fans? who no doubt havent kicked a ball in there lives but feel they can do a better job than me...god dammit!!!!!

Classic. Feeling your pain. Some fans just don't know when they've got it good.

I no what you mean, the board only ever judge you on current performance, the boards rule seems to be if it happened 3 months ago it didn't happen lol
