Hi everyone!

I need some tactical advice, and help with my alone striker Mario Gavranovic . He has great attributes as Trequeartista and Advanced forward ,but has a very bad match rating and stats,i cant deside which role use for him,too bring the best. Also i have problems with defenders, the opponents coming to a chance very easy, and the whole team play very slow and complicate too much. When we lose the ball i would like to bring back quickly

I use 2 tactics ,the first is 4-2-3-1 with two CWB (a) central defenders (D) with closing down less and tight marking player instructions. than in the MC positions, left is Dlp (s) and the right is BTB , IF ( A )in the middle is AM ( A ) and the right side is W (S) ..striker is AF

Team Instructions :
control ,flexible
higher tempo, close down more, shorter pasing, exploit the right and left flank, look for overlap ,work into box, whipped crosses

in roster i have great amc with AP and AM attributes, great IF with dribling and finishing ,great middle which can play bwm, dlp, and ap roles

the second tactics is Cwb( A ) Dm-regista ,two MC left is btb right is ap(S) ,IF( A ) left ,W(s) right and AF in striker position...the team instructions is similiar the first tactis..

Let's see

It's better to use pictures than text.

Firstly I'd say there are a lot of variables that determine how a lone striker will play. Try schedule a friendly against a team as strong as yours and watch your team play for 15 minutes. Watch what your striker is doing. If it doesn't look like much play him in every role every few minutes, see where he is most threatening.

His attributes are good for a poacher but it depends how the team plays. He may never see the ball or always be isolated.

When looking at roles and duties, my approach isn't to worry as much about the player themselves. I worry about how I want them to fit into the tactic. I find that a player who isn't ideally suited to a given role can still usually perform reasonably well there if it fits the tactic, but a role that fits the player but not the tactic tends to falter. I've used players who are not at all Complete Forwards as that role and had them perform quite well because it fit the tactic and they were reasonably solid players for the level.

So consider how you want the striker to function? Do you want them to be focused on goals only or linking player? Creating for others, doing defensive work, or being the central attacking focus? If you have other creative players up high, using them as an F9 might not be necessary.

Benmore is correct, though - pick a role, play some matches, and watch how he performs. If he's not giving you type of attacking play you want, try another role.
