Seriously, it's frustrating. One minute a newly created tactic is blowing top opposition out of the water with 60%+ possession then the next I'm losing to minnows.

What's wrong...No amount of analysing is helping me. Do any of you watch the FULL match to find weaknesses in your team or do you watch it in KEY?

How can I become tactically skilled?

Could be a number of reasons. It's almost impossible to answer these questions because there are so many variables.

I would suggest reading up on real life examples of tactics. Some don't work so well, some do spectacularly. For instance, my initial attempt at a strikerless 4-6-0 formation failed utterly, but now it seems to be working with Napoli first season, top of the league in January. Try looking at some of the stuff on this site: iNickstuff's Tactician's Chalkboards, for example. If you're REALLY desperate, try my stuff below. ;)

i just watch Key but im sure loads of people watch Extended what team are you? and check your match preparation and see if everyone is fluid, and look at analysis after the match if getting to much passes intercepted maybe play more direct or if too many long shots outside the box change players instructions etc

Read Tactical Theorems '10. As the name suggests, it is for FM10, but it still fully applies.

Also, what are you saying in your team talks? Saying the right things in situations can help string performances together. Take a look at WoIfsongs teamtalk guide.

As for what you view matches in, it is preference really. I watch important ones of full, and the rest on highlights.

Honestly,I think simple tactics are the most useful, I used a simple 4-4-2 with Cagliari, with few risky play and supported play too, won the Serie A with 29 W 4 D and 5 L I think.

So I recommend making your tactics to adapt the team and make some minor changes when necessary.
