I am clearly aware of the fact that consistency is a hidden attribute in the game but I'm beginning to believe it's the only reason as to why I cant find a striker like 2012/13 Van Persie or winger like Christiano Ronaldo.

From FM 2012-2014 (excluding the fm12 portable game, well easy to find consistent strikers) I have had CA of 3 stars to 5 stars and I've only been able to secure the signing of an incredibly consistent player but at a cost of ?50 million (in FM13). At the moment, I have a player whose CA is 4 stars but he is at performing consistently and the only time I get him to perform is in important matches.

So, all I really want is to know how one could find out if a player's consistency is high or not and if so, how one could improve a players consistency. It's come to a point where I win or lose games without my striker scoring, it has been like that for the ever since I started FM14 and I fail to find strikers who can score more than 10 goals a season.

Rescaldani is consistent as it gets. Beast target man. 3.5 CA, but he has the key attributes for being a target man, including some of the best PPM, plays with back to goal, places shots. He is very cheap. Managed to get europe best scorer on second season.

If you're having trouble getting any striker to score more than 10 a season I'd look at your tactics not at the players.

Where are your goals coming from and how do you play?

Negredo was an Absolute beast for me in my second season with Udinese. Bought him for 11 million euros and in the first Season he scored 24 times 34 games. In the third Season, he was even better. Won the golden boot for most Goals scored. 50 games 42 goals. Great Targetman!

for consistency, surely, you just look for a decent ratio of appearances/goals/assists?

Scout repots on players will point out if consistency is a strength or weakness of a player from time to time.

Improve it: probably get a consistent player to tutor

I alter my three formations every year but the most often formation I use is the 4-2-3-1 with wingers. Tactically my team is setup to rely on long range passes due to their inability to defend at the moment because of form/morale. The team barely ever score more than one goal and I have to rely on midfielders to score as my striker simply does not get involved in the game. I play him as an Advanced forward most of the time and poacher.

if you are playing with wingers, you want a target man.. poachers really shouldn't be used on their own.

Pedro is a wonderful talent BUT having played FM 13 and 14 with lone strikers, I've noticed that the match engine likes lone strikers to be physically strong and imposing.

It makes sense... if your lone striker is not strong / good in the air, etc. he can just get bullied out by the defenders and DM, and shoved out of the game. I like my strikers to be the whole physical package... strong, fast and good in air. Ideally, 15+.

Also if he's not getting involved in the game, rather than set him to be a AF/poacher, put him in a support role. This will allow him to drop deeper and participate in the build up play.

If you've just recently bought the player, you should allow for 1-2 years for the striker to really settle into the club and start the goals flowing.
