Is there a thread out there that details how to make younger players better by giving them first team experience?

I have a lot of young players with high potential ability, but they don't seem to be progressing. I downloaded one of the training packages - Dunc's to be exact - so now I'm just focusing on giving them playing time. If anybody can answer the following questions, that would be great!

  • How many first team minutes a season should I give youngsters so that they can get better?
  • Is there a rule as to how high of a current ability a youngster must have before I can run him with the first team? I play in the premier league so would it be bad if I put in a youngster that only has half a star?
  • How many years does it take for a youngster to develop?
Thanks

I have always said that FM need to have a "learning" attribute to help to know if and by how much players can learn and improve

i suppose there personality is a key factor, a fairly determined youngster will possible develop better than an unambitious one
