Hello fellow gamers,

Not sure if this should be in general discussion or tactics so feel free to move if the wrong forum.

Ok so during a match, what determines who you substitute?

Do you just go by the match rating or something else? I once read a guy that takes players off who have made the least passes (not including GK) so lets see what everyone else favors??

I usually pull out players that ratings fall below 6.3 for more than 10 minutes. I also keep an eye on their stamina, when they get in the mid 60s I really consider swapping them, if they've got a good backup. If we've got week with multiple matches in the same week, or a quick turn around into a top side, I'll pull out players who will be needed in that game at 70% or high 60%. Kind of personal preference. I've also pulled out a striker with a 6.8 rating, and 75% stamina, simply because he wasn't getting any shots on target. I suppose I just approach the game as though I'm really the manager trying to make a team successful/profitable.

winning the midfield battle is key, so I sub my hard working midfielders at around 72-74% stamina to keep them fresh and not lose that battle.

Rating and or stamina for me. If a player is dropping rating wise below 6.3 then he is removed even if it is in the first 20 mins of a game. Likewise if stamina drops below 55 then it is time for a fitter player to replace him. This is especially true with any forwards as a falling rating indicates a confidence drop.

For me if a player has 6.6 or less by HT he's a gonna for me. Then later on in games I go by stamina.

I have 2 tabs that I mainly check during a game, with 3 key pieces of information for me to make a substitution. Match rating, stamina and body language. Any player, in the second half, looking nervous is highly likely to be subbed by me. Especially if they're a striker, I find they very, very rarely score when looking nervous.
