Just wondering what helps keep your current long-term saves going.

I've played Football Manager for years but have always struggled to get past 4-5 seasons with each save.

I'm currently West Brom and have just finished my 5th season and managed to win the League & FA Cup.

I really want to keep it going as i've put together a good team and still have trophies i haven't yet won, but i find it really hard to find the motivation to keep myself going at times!

i look to sign young players and turn them into world class players, that takes a while on its own but then after that i try to help them beat club records like most ever appearances for the club or top club goalscorer. i like to see if i can get players to become club legends like lampard and gerrard.

I found to amazing Egyptian regens on fm13 and that spurred me into finding really obscure regens that could be world beaters

Try and set yourself challenges like going unbeaten, creating a fully English team or only bring players in through academy to name a few. Some people say if you manage top teams its boring but if you set some challenges it makes it more enjoyable IMO.

EDIT: ^ He beat me to it ^

I can't keep myself in 1 team for a long time .. but I always have 1 save, cuz when I get bored with my team I resign and search for another , usually I go for lower teams so I can build them up

Starting from a low league and progressing is the best way to keep motivation for me.

take a break from the game for a month and then download a new skin and start a randomly selected save

Win everything if possible with one club then leave and go to another country for a fresh challenge

Furthest I've got in any FM was 14 years on FM12 as Liverpool, although I haven't got past 4 years in any other save. Usually I end up having a few saves going at once as different teams from completely different levels (i.e. Liverpool, Bristol City and Marine) so I can switch save and the game feels fresh.

Lower league challenges are always good long term challenges that constantly keep my interest in. Also smaller targets like become a club legend, unlock achievements etc etc.

I've had a little flick through my save and come across that im currently ranked

- 7th in Europe (Reputation Wise)
- 9th in Estimated Value
- 28th after the latest Coefficients

So going to try and aim to make it top of all 3 of these lists, which of course will take winning a lot of silverware.

Thanks for all the replies as well by the way, helped motivate me!

I've a 7 team save, I play while watching boxsets and series catch ups..:)
