Raikan put it perfectly. But another thing to keep in mind, is that a lot of players will quickly lose their loyalty to you when you try to push them out, and another club comes along and offers them actual game time.
Ha Dae-Sung in my Seoul game was like that, remained 'fiercely loyal to the club' up until Busan (now the bottom team in the league, back then were third from the bottom...) came in and made a bid. Suddenly, Busan was a great place to be and he was proud to play for them. Luckily he held no grudge against me, we needed to sell him off and he just didn't play well, there were many others better at AM than him.
Depending on how you play them, how often you play them, their current relationship with you, and their loyalty to the club, a player may just change his mind when the opportunity to actually leave arises.

Thank you for this advice as i was coming up to january and i was low on cash so i thought it would be okay to put felipe melo that i had barely used him and then Gigi Buffon Wanted to leave.P.S. I am Being Juventus.

My experience while doing that is that clubs do not make an offer 
. Because I only sell players that I consider weak to the squad and therefore less likely to have a good offer.

Yeah the guy with reputation 'amateur'. Be helpful or just get out of FM Base.
OT: Transfer list, say you need to sell him to raise cash or whatever
my players are stupid when it comes to selling them
i put them up for sale and they say they are unhappy at being transfer listed so i say i will sell them as soon as possible (which is what i wanted and they didn't) and they say thanks is there anything else
try this on them it cheers them up
