The question is in the title really. Has anyone yet created a SUCCESSFUL gegenpressing tactic? Could people tell us what type of player roles, formation and/or TI's they reccomend?
Thanks a lot :)

The pressing doesnt seem to work all that well right now judging from my own experience and other peoples complaints on the SI forums. Especially offensive pressing doesnt seem to work at all to be honest, you can max everything but the pressing is still really weak. Gegenpressing is counter pressing meaning you press relentlessly immediately after losing possession, this does not happen in FM atm.

The best you can do is probably just max pressing and specifically man mark players for each game you play, that would get old real fast though i can imagine.

In my opinion, the fact that there are no tactic yet which can be used by every team based on pressing (especially offensive pressing) is the evidence about the fantastic progress SI is making with FM and how realistic this game is (despite some stupid fail in ME), below is the reasons (in short because i'm at work :P):

- If you ever play football in real life, on the pitch, you will realise that pressing (especially offensive pressing) is not the choice for every team. The beauty of pressing football nowadays only can be portrayed by a very strong club (like Barcelona or Bayern), which contains a lot of world-class players and can outplay their oppositions in every positions by their physical, mental and technical as well as a respective team-cohesion. A small clubs with weaker players in every aspects, or a big club with less team-cohesive (like Chelsea or Man City) can adopt pressing style in their attacking, but it contains a lot of risks if their opponent knows how to exploit them ( See Liverpool 4 - 1 Man City). This was presented perfectly in FM 16.

- To adopt a successful total - pressing system, the preparations need to be perfect, not just simply some clicks and "Insta-Results". Dont know if any "manager" here has ever played on a football pitch as a defender in a high-defensive line in a pressing system. If so, unless your team is totally stronger than your opponents, it should be understand that total-pressing, like zonal-marking or man-marking will failed by simply 1 mistakes of 1 players, but will more costly because of the high-defensive line. So the concentration of how your players is performing in a match is essential for a manager who want to be successful with this kind of tactic.

In my opinions, there're a lot of credits in this version of FM were ignored and the philosophy "no tactic is perfect" is one of them, especially when there are a lot of geeks - who just stay at home, plays simulation games and fool themselves that they can somehow create a domination style of football, this version of FM is totally wreck that idea - like real football will do :) (Sorry if my English is bad, its not my first language)

That's very true there isn't a perfect tactic that could fit any team, but I was thinking more along the lines of could somebody try to make one or help give tips to make one because the base of the tactic would surely be at least similar but obviously tweaks will be needed

If you study klopp at liverpool this year, when they press hard the defensive line pushes up high, compacting the two teams making the press work. While the team is pressing they dont drop deep. When they drop deep and play on the counter they dont press. Its like they have 2 complete set of tactical orders they swap between mid game.

To press all game and attcak with pace in this style is suicide and no team in the world can do it. 90mins on a real pitch is a ****** long time. Do your research on gengen or whatever they call it understand it fully, its is only done in key moments durring the game, not the whole game.

This makes it extreamly hard to replicate on FM16 without fully changing tactics mid games.

Hope this helps
