Right now I have Fabregas playing as an AMC advanced playmaker but he only scores about 5 goals a season.
I've also got Ramsey and Wilshere playing as box-to-box midfielders but they can never seem to score.

Does anyone know a way to make them score more?

Forward runs often, run from deep often, roam from position. Also put their mentality more towards attacking.

Do your strikers score? If they do dont worry about midfielders.

PS: I usualy have diferent problem my midfielders score too much and strikers do not:)

Problem with trying to get your midfielders forward and into the box is you can leave yourself completely open on the counter.
also if you have them shoot long a lot more often you'll find yourself wasting a lot of decent chances.
I really wouldn't worry about it, it's there job to link defence and attack and also protect your back four.

No good scoring 4 if you let 5 in ;)

Fabregas never was the scoring type for me. Saying that, nor was his the type to give assists.
I'd put Fabregas as a Terquartista in AMC, because that brought in better perfomances for me before I sold him.

As for the midfield, you will rarely get goals from them, but if you have to then set Long Shots often and Run from Deep often.

Doglas Costa, AML set to Winger Attack, Move in to Channels, is my leading goal scorer for Liverpool.. Scores way more than Suarez, Ganso and Zarate playing Poacher, AMC and AMR respectively.

No problem with strikers, van Persie scored 50 for me last season!

long shot should do the trick , but can backfire u more.

Middle fielder, especially playmaker, doesn't supposed to score unless they have really good long shot (even with that, they still only score when the path to the goal is clear open which is quite rare) thus it's quite unreliable. If you want your AMC to score, get the dribbling-finishing type like Kaka, Messi, Iniesta with the "run with ball through the centre" preferred move. They will dig through the whole defensive line and score.

In my humble opinion, central midfielders can score a lot in a 4-5-1 with a lone striker on support duty. One midfielder should be on advanced playmaker support / deep lying playmaker. The goal scoring midfielder should be central midfielder attack. They should be covered behind by a DM. Playing mentality for the team should be attacking. Philosophy - balanced. Decreasing run from deep and decreasing the creative freedom of full backs will make them play cautiously and should help you against counters.

I used the following players in the cm attack role in rotation: Tom Cairney, Thiago Alcantra, Ilkay Gundongan. Over one season, Tom Cairney scored 13 goals, Thiago 5 goals and Ilkay Gundongan 8 goals. So that makes it 26 goals for the season from the CM- attack slot.

They generally score the goals by the following methods:
1. Lone support striker holds up the ball and passes it to the CM-attack who is making a surging run past him. He is one on one with the keeper and if he has decent composure, will score... Cairney used to excel in this.
2. By making late runs into the box, they end up being unmarked and are so well positioned to score from close range, especially when a winger / inside forwards is making crosses / through balls into the box on a counter. Gundongan used to excel in this.

**** long shots....Don't...Depending on your midfield though it might be a good idea to have 1 long shot shooter....I have Toni Kroos as an adv playmaker with normal movement with schweinsteiger as cntrl. attack move into channels come from deep sometimes..and sissoko as ball winning mid support but with move into channels and sometimes come to deep....They all get goals here and there....sometimes they even score screamers even though its on rarely(long shots)...I also have ramsey who excels in kroos and schwei. positions(almost replaced kroos in his first season)...Its all about the mentality and movement...Sissoko is such a beast that even with attack mentality he can catch up to people that are way way's away.

Does anyone know a way to make them score more?

First thing: do you consider Wingers as midfielders? Technically, they are because they are also called right/left attacking midfielders.

Second thing: why do you want your midfielders (DM and CM's) to score more? See Barca. Last season they've been absolutely dominant and everybody knows that Xavi and Iniesta played an important role in thier midfield. Yet Xavi just scored 5 times in all competitions. Iniesta's better but with only 9. As long as you get the ball to your attackers and have them score there's no point wanting your midfielders to score more goals (at least from open play).

Third thing: You want Fabregas to score more? I would rather have him to assist more. If you do not trust your attackers' abilities, then go and buy in the market.

Fourth thing: Maybe Fabregas emergence as a real goal-scoring threat since transferring to Barca this season pushes you to do the same with him in FM, then try playing him in Messi's position.

Last thing: If you really want to do this, I think you should set your midfielders that you want to score more to Attack duties whichever role they would suit and play with defensive forwards and fullbacks to support them and the team in possession. But unless they have good dribbling and attacking skills, they would attempt more and more long shots which would cost you the game eventually if they can't score from distance. Honestly, scoring from distance is actually a difficult way to get regular goals and I only use it when needing goals late in the game or at all costs. But at least it will get you more on Goals of the Week/Month awards.
