So, I got a 3 step plan on how to reduce the amount that you pay for a player (this works for wages as well)
1. First, put a normal bid in. They should normally negotiate.
2. Then if you scouted him, look at his Estimated Cost (or Wages) and put it like a few hundred thousand lower but don't negotiate yet.
3. The important part, if you never want to sell the guy, put a 50% sell on fee on the player. They should accept.
Thats it. In 5 years you should see the differences in the finances and save up to 5m on player fees. Hope this helped.
