How to get the most out of Gabriel Barbosa?

I bought him at the start of my save with Southampton. He spent the first season out in Brazil as he was under 18 so couldn't leave. I have jus finished my second season, and in his 20 appearances (around 12 from the bench) he has netted just once. His potential is 4 star, but he seems very average as hasn't done much to suggest he will be a good player for me.

I have played him as complete striker, poacher and advanced forward alongside Mitrovic who is my target man.
Mitrovic scored 34 last season and I'm aware I'm over reliant on him. So how can I play Barbosa to get a better output from him?
 
Ignore the star potential is not a good guide to how good a player willl be, its only in relation to the players you have.

I play him as an AF, he can also play dropping off.. He is brilliant for me (in Seria Y though lol). just pick and choose your games, against slower CB's.. you can always throw him out on loan, if you want a short term better fix, just make sure the club hes going too gives him good training and game time.
 
Oh dear and to think I thought it was a guide to how good the player was on a worldwide club scale :/

Got him for united, usually a super sub for me but I do play him in easier matches, I really like him. Got 16 goals in his first season with me so I can't complain.

maybe best striker in game (for me) , i bought him al 16 age,he comes with 18..1 year loan, then he play in first team (man utd)...for now 14 games - 15 goals and 7 ***...AND his attributtes arent so good (yet)...i play him like a poacher, and cavani as complete forward..amazing...rooney-welback ( well,poor...rooney....may god,hi is poor in this FM)
 
Mitrovic could be the problem, I've had Barbosa play up front with R.Zivkovic and they both fired me to the CL trophy, Mitrovic on the other hand I've had in many saves because his stats dont reach the heights of others but his goals just flood in. However I've tried many partners in a lot of games and the only player he has linked well with is Carlos Fierro. Barbosa is a beast though, just give him time.
 
Barbosa is a monster in my Man Utd save,
brought him on the start, long awaited him to arrive on my 2nd season.
sold most of my striker just to fill him in as 1st team.....
playing a 4-2-3-1, mean the lone striker upfront, playing him as a AF(something as Poacher) infront of Rooney and his a monster.
now almost to end of my season 2, played 40+game with 36goals....
 
I just love him ! I use him as a poacher (roam from positions and mark tighter his current instructions in my 4-4-2) I 'm in year 2022 now and this is the first season in which I use two strikers . So far in the season he has scored 20 goals and he also gives many assists ! In all the previus seasons I use him as a poacher in my 4-2-3-1 . He scores 40 -50 goals every season (cannot remember exactly since I am in work know). I ll put on a screenshot as soon as I return home ! Each year I receive huge offers for him but I think I will never sell him !
 
He had just become the first scorer in Milan 's history (in my save) with 212 goals ! It took him only 8 years !!
 
I bought this guy on a whim because I fancied getting a striker I've never used before.

I'm Man Utd and I had already sold RVP to barca first season and Hernandez to Juve second season.

Barboza came in september and has just turned 18. The week he came to me he got his Brazil debut and scored.

I use him as an advanced lone striker and in 7 appearances, and 3 subs he has 8 goals and 8 assists so far! Really looking forward to see how the rest of his first season goes :)
