There is a player I want which I *KNOW* a full fee of 3 million would get him.

I'm trying to offer 2.5 million up front and 500k after 40 league appearances.

*EVERY* single time I try to add a League Appearances or Minimum Goals league fees, the other team comes back saying - "They want a deal starting @ 3 million (in this case) and when I go to the negotiating table their return offer is

3 million straight up front PLUS 500k clauses I was offering. The teams always seem to ignore the clauses.

As an example of what I'm describing:

If you know a player costs 3 million. You offer 1 million w / 2 million in additional fees based on accomplishments. THEY always come back saying they want 3 million still + the additional fees. So in this example the team would come back with a 5 million potential transfer deal.

Anyone know what I mean? What am I doing wrong? :P

I havnt run across that, have you tried offering nothing up front and all in installments? Also set it to non negotiable and see what happens.

£500k after 40 games is so remote that you might as well not bother with it. It'd take two years for them to get it if he played every single game. If he didn't become a key player it could take 3 or 4 years, which is a very very long time in football. And if he doesn't make it they wouldn't get anything. It's equivalent to an up-front fee of virtually nil, that's why they seem to be ignoring it.

Try making it after 10 or at most 15 games - that will give you long enough to find out whether he's worth it and they should consider it wroth something. But £500k after 10 games is still worth less than £500k upfront, so you'll probably still have to increase the value of the overall deal to over £3m for them to accept.

Happens to me sometimes, though I never use non-negotiable anymore. Last time I did it went belly up

Do you mean you went bankrupt from buying or selling players in installments? I buy upfront and sell in installments so that my team can make a profit every month of the season.

Yeah i used to always ask for up front but now get it in installments. Never really need the money and now the club makes a profit every calender month. I also tend to recieve slightly more money in installments than I would upfront :)

Doesn't selling players in installments though take away from your possible transfer kitty? If you get 70% transfer revenue but sell in installements, are you really getting anything? I can see this being fine for upper echelon clubs but it's bad for lower league teams.

Generally you will need to offer abit more for clause deals to be accepted. I just brought 255mil worth of players in my first season of man city using 48month installments and each one was 2mil over scouts price. All got accepted :P

for some point the OP really looks like how barca wanten to put installments on cese bid. lol ;)

IMO, it also on the players rep. like when ever i go for youngster regen with 3 stars rep, then i offer a deal with clauses mainly 'after 10 goals' (for ST) and 'after 20 app'

now if the player is a regular for his former club, has good future, and maybe like 4.5 star PA, then u have to play at the preferred price tag with less, or no, clauses at all.

can u post a screen shot of the player u wanna buy. ?

There's a difference between getting £3m upfront and £3m in total. Try negotiating the deal so it's the £2.5m upfront and then more than £500k after whatever clause you want to insert, chances are you could end up paying close to £4-5m in total if you don't want to pay all of it upfront, it would be bad business by the selling team otherwise.
