Hey all, i'm managing Aston Villa at the start of the second season. I've been frustrated as Agbonlahor isn't preforming well, 1 goal in 6. As he has pretty much the best pace on the game, i was wondering how to utilise that the best that i could? I play 4-5-1 with Agbonlahor set to poacher. ANY suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance :)

I guess you could play him as a Target Man - Attack and change the passes to him from 'Mixed' to 'Run onto ball'.

Edit: Or play him as a poacher or something like that and in Team Instructions have him as a Target Man and let the passes to him be 'Run onto ball'.

PPMs -
Moves into channels
Tries to beat offside trap
Knocks ball past opponent

pick a large pitch at home to give him space to run into behind

If you're using Agbonlahor, make him unlearn 'plays with back to goal' as well.

Place shots in corner of net, break offside trap, run onto ball, Large home pitch.

Sorted.

set him as targetman with "run onto ball"

Give him a fairly high attacking mentality and run with ball often.

Have your midfielders do throughballs "often" and your sidebacks cross from deep often.

I've had pacey strikers score tons from early crosses from sidebacks. You'll also need fairly direct passing game.

PPM isn't reliable because that takes too long to learn all of them and sometimes he won't even learn them or worse, he had trained but failed in the end.

Try set him as target man with 'run onto ball' and play a creative AMC behind him.

Play counter-attack. Apparently Villa are one of the best teams on FM for counter-attacking play.
