Hi there!

I need some advices on how to get those 2 beasts to work well with each other.

When I play both of them behind my lone striker (defoe or neymar) they just can't seem to cause that impact they are capable of. They usually play at an average rate of 6.9, 7.0, sometimes 7.1, but I'm pretty sure they can get way better ratings. Usually, here is what happens: If van der vaart plays well, modric will be empty in the game; I'll barely see him touching the ball, and if modric plays well, van der vaart will be a blank.

When vdv got injured, i played modric with 2 up front, behind defoe and neymar, and he did wonders, got the last 5 games average rate up to 7.9.

I play a 4-1-2-2-1, with 1 DM, 1 ML and one MR, vdv and modric as AMCS and 1 striker.

Is it my tactic? Is it my individual settings? Or they can't just work well together?

I really want to get the best out of them, because IMO they are the best players on tottenham's squad.

Thank you! :D

I never managed to make them work too well together unless I played a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1. I preferred the 4-3-3, as VDV could run from deep, but either would do. Put Modric on the wing, play him as an inside forward, give him stacks of creative freedom, and he works wonders.

worked well with me in a 4-2-3-1 with Modric the advanced playmaker support and VdV trquearista(sp)

and vdv did well as a trequartista?

Also, who were your primary playmaker?

Uhmm i can't remember i just set it up and left it as it was.

VdV was banging them in and Modric was setting everyone up :)

Play 4-4-1-1
Modric Cm advanced playmaker support
Van der Vaart AMC attacking midfielder attack

Like others have said, don't give them the same position role, they'll just get in each other's way - I mean that in terms of the defined position (advanced playmaker, trequartista etc), and also in terms of attack and support duties, always best to have one of each.

Final suggestion which hasn't been mentioned yet, tick the box on tactics to change positions with each other, they'll be harder to mark and it might get them both performing well if they change who the main playmaker is in intervals in the match.

These things have all worked for me before with other teams but I haven't been spurs on fm11 yet...

Hmm, guess I'm gonna give it a go with modric as adv playmaker - support and VdV as attacking midfielder - attack and try the change positions thing.

I'll give some feedback on my success - or failure :P

thx guys =]
