I think I'm tactically retarded.

Trying - again - to have a successful season with Liverpool. This is a new game at the start of the 08/09 season.

Brought in Noble, Johnson and Downing. Nice pre-season and two 4-0 wins in the first three games, but now it's gone bad - 30% win ratio after twelve games, and I think it's down to the tactics.

Instead of boring you explaining exactly what I do, I'll just ask you this:

You have an away game against Schalke in the first game of the ECC Group Stage, they are playing a standard 4-3-3 (with the wingers, like Barca) and their pitch is narrow and long. How would you tailor your tactics to suit the occasion?

If you think you could do better than lose 3-0, I think you could help!

Thanks

try being more defensive and try using a counter attack with direct passing. That way you can absorb the pressure from their 3 strikers, and then pass the ball far down their long field. You could probably also stack the middle up with a 4-5-1 to smother their midfield and prevent the ball getting to their strikers.

If you are that desperate why dont you jsut downlaod a tactic - Lee's liverpool tactic would work well:)

try using this tactic, i was gonna post this up on a thread, but i cant be bothered atm, so maybe some other time, but try it anyway, i think it will work nicely with liverpool, maybe get a faster CB and use stevie g as the AMView attachment 9977

Cheers, I'll tell you what I actually did:

Had a DL, DR and DC to go man-to-man with their three strikers (although I never set the marking to man-to-man, and when with two DMC's to nullify the threat of their attacking midfielders. At the time I thought this'd stop them from scoring, especially with my mentality as slightly defensive. In the other half I had a CM, an AML, an AMC, an AMR and a lone striker.

On the bright side I did realise the long pitch thing and played more direct passing... not that it worked. Virtually no chances throughout the whole match and was probably lucky to lose 3-0!

I think I'm just bad with tactical logic, I'll keep lurking in the forums and pick up some pointers.

Don't want to download a tactic really, I think it'd taint the wins a bit, like on the old Championship Managers where you can employ Sir Alex or Van Gaal or Trappatoni as your assistant and go on holiday while they win everything! Well, not quite as bad, but you know what I mean...
