So, the most banal approach to this sim is to not go against the ME. Cover your weaknesses, play on your strengths. If you opt for a less agressive strategy, choose less agressive instructions, if you play with a less layered formation, play more fluidly.
So, with this in mind, I started creating a possession game. Basically, it's about retaining and regaining possession. You want players behind the ball to retain possession, that's basic. However, playing less agressive means lower defensive line, and standing further away from your opponent which makes regaining possession difficult. So you use a neutral mentality, standard. It doesn't push men forward, so it's easy to keep possession, however, you aren't supposed to position yourself deeper, and make regaining difficult, and in the process go against the ME. With standard, you can play a short passing game, and push higher up and close down. Barcelona does this quite effectively, but they use a 4-5-1 formation, which doesn't feature a player in AMC position, therefore they play fluid. So, fluid standard is basically tiki taka.
I have created this, and wasn't satisfied. Sure, I won possession and matches, but going fluid instead of flexible means moving out of balance, if you use standard strategy. I think it would be better to use an assymetric formation, and play standard combined with flexible, as assymetric formations feature players everywhere on the pitch, so no fluidity is needed.
I have created this, and the results so far are amazing, but instead of giving you screenies, I'd like you to try it yourself, and post your own success, and I'd like you to try it with any team you wish, even a LLM team.
