WENGER RETIRES FROM FOOTBALL MANAGEMENT

Today it has been confirmed that Arsene Wenger has retired from football management. In an Arsenal T.V. exclusive interview he revealed that he felt he was too old for the "hustle and bustle" of football management and reveals that he has reccomended someone as a replacement to the Arsenal board.

There has been a lot of speculation to who will take over Arsene Wenger, with Frank Rijkaard favourite at most bookies. Others who are in with a shout for the job are Martin O' Neil, Martin Jol and scandalously new Middlesbrough boss Liam Byrne has been listed as a long shot after whispers that he is the man Arsene Wenger had advised the Arsenal board to approach.

RIJKAARD SEES ARSENAL AS A DEFINATE YES
When asked about the Arsenal job Rijkaard grinned like a small child being offered sweets and said that if approached by the Gunners he would definately see it being a great oppurtunity for him and that he would not refuse.

As a responce to this Galatasaray have warned Rijkaard and that another comment like that could see him get sacked. The club's board said that, "This sort of behaviour is irrelevant and immature. We at Galatasaray believe we are just as good as any other club in Europe and that Arsenal would not be a step up from the team we have here".

BREAKING NEWS
BYRNE SET FOR ARSENAL JOB!
Just moments after Frank Rijkaard's press confrence in Turkey, Liam Byrne has been appointed as manager of Arsenal football club. Just being named as manager of Teeside club Middlesbrough last week there is no doubt the Boro fans will be left fuming and will build up a great deal of resentment for the Dublin man. Liam Byrne has had a press confrence and we will show it here after the break.

Being an outsider for the job you must be overwhelmed at being named Arsenal manager, am I right?
Well of course, I love Arsenal football club and will look forward to taking charge at my favourite club.

Is it true you already have plans for who is going to leave the club this summer?
I am not 100% sure on who will leave, but I do have a good idea at what players I'd love to bring into the club.

What about the backroom staff?
What about them, there is an incredible backroom staff here at the Emirates and it'd be a shame to take it apart.

What are your aims for the season?
Well I hope to obtain a top four finish at the very least. A domestic cup will do well too and at least the quarter final of the Champions League. No more questions.

Byrne comes into a young and gifted Arsenal side that should push for honours in all competitions. The current Arsenal squad will be listed below;

1. Manuel Almunia
21. Lucasz Fabianski
3. Bakary Sagna
5. Vermalaen
6. Laurent Koscielny
18. Sebastian Squillaci

NAPOLI FANS PROTEST AT DOUBLE SALE
Napoli fans went to the Stadio San Paolo to protest at the shock sale of star players Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi to Arsenal Football Club (England). Napoli fans thought they could pose a serious title challenge but with the loss of key players for an estimated £30 million sterling will be unable to bring in replacements of equal quality. The board said that the offers were "too good to refuse".

Napoli are rumoured to be looking at Andrei Arshavin of Arsenal as a replacement for Lavezzi, 25. They will have to fight off Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan to get the player's signature. The manager refused to comment on the current situation.

Some decent signings there mate ,
Bit of advice. You may want to add a few pictures or a bit of colour in there , at the moment it is a little boring with the plain writing.
Never-the-less keep updating and people will begin to follow

Arsenal's pre-season saw the inclusion of many youth players including; Daniel Boateng, Gavin Hoyte, Craig Eastmond, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Havard Nordveit and Giles Sunu. Despite this Arsenal manager Liam Byrne has selected Tomas Rosicky as his stand-out performer. The Czech Republic captain was the club's top goalscorer in pre-season with five goals. Rosicky also clocked up 3 assists and knows that he could be Arsenal's star performer this season if he can continue his current form.

Byrne had previously stated that Poli could be the man to complete his starting eleven. Arsenal have been criticised for not having a talented defensive midfielder, despite this Byrne said he had faith in Alex Song despite his two red cards and injury problems. "Now there will be more competition for Alex, the boy needs to buck up his ideas or he won't play. Before he knew he was my first and pretty much only choice. Now that Andrea is coming into the side Alex knows he will be replaced for any mistake he makes, I feel that is the same with all the squad, we have strength in depth and this signing will really help us kick on with our title challenge."

Arsenal retained their stunning start to the season with yet another unbeaten month in all competitions. A few pundits are comparing squad with that of the invincible of the 2003-04 season which manager Liam Byrne has laughed off. He has yet to experience his first loss as a manager and it is yet to be seen whether he does in the coming weeks.

Arsenal 4-0 West Brom
Arsenal started October like they ended September, playing some great football and giving West Brom a lesson. Arsenal netted twice in the first 12 minutes. One goal coming from Robin van Persie who's fantastic form has taken him to be favourite for the Golden Boot, in the 3rd minute. Tomas Rosicky netted a belter from the edge of the area and fans and pundits alike were delighted. The Emirates erupted into a buoyant mood when substitute Jack Wilshere scored a tap-in from an Arsenal corner. Lastly Marek Hamsik netted the last goal of the game on 64 minutes from the spot after van Persie was taken down by Chris Brunt.

It took them two minutes after the restart to find the net, Alex Song with a powerful effort from inside the area. Arsenal's momentum didn't effect them as much as they would have liked but Ezequiel Lavezzi and Gabby Agbonlahor hit the woodwork. In a goal mouth scramble in the dying minutes Gael Clichy poked the ball past Tim Howard to get the win for Arsenal.

Bendtner was taken down in the area and Cesc Fabregas deputised well for substitute van Persie with a calm finish. Then cue Samir Nasri to start to play well. Arsenal fans won't have been too upset with their team's performance, the main positive being that they retained the top spot of the Premier League and guarenteed qualification to the Champions League knockout stage as group winners. Arsenal manager Liam Byrne has revealed that he is delighted with Arsenal's start to the season and in particular Robin van Persie has stood out as the star man.

Dinamo 1-4 Arsenal(Champions League)
Dinamo started the game well and netted the first through Mateo Kovacic after a mistake from Sebastian Squillaci. Arsenal then had almost all of the possesion up until half time but Robin van Persie had picked up a minor injury and missed 3 or 4 good chances so Marouanne Chamakh came on to give the team a different option upfront.

Arsenal constructed wave after wave of attacks but the Dinamo defence proved to be very solid. Arsenal were frustrated into playing "route one" football which is the opposite of what they usually do, but the waterlogged pitch made it awkward to keep the ball on the pitch. Substitute Marouanne Chamakh proved to be the key man. Thomas Vermalaen played a long ball before Chamakh flicked it on allowing Ezequiel Lavezzi to take advantage of his pace before scoring a placed shot.

Chamakh obtained another assist playing through Samir Nasri to lob the keeper. In the last five minutes the Morrocan netted twice from heading in free kicks crossed by Cesc Fabregas.

Birmingham 0-7 Arsenal
Arsenal put on a great display against struggling Birmingam City at St. Andrew's here. Birmingham will have felt rather embarassed as they left London as their manager had said that Arsenal shouldn't be too hard of a team to get a point off before the game.

Marouanne Chamakh started the drubbing with a wondeful team goal started by Igor Akinfeev at the other end of the pitch. Marek Hamsik doubled Arsenal's lead with a wonderstrike from 25 yards that rippled the net after rattling the underside of the crossbar. Hamsik was on target again for Arsenal after slotting home a drilled cross played by Bakary Sagna. on the stroke of half time.

Robin van Persie smacked the ball into the net from 8 yards when he was left in acres of space after a great through ball from Arsenal skipper Francesc Fabregas. The cultured forward netted again after yet another pass from Cesc Fabregas. The Dutchman completed his hat-trick with a wonderful solo goal in which he ran from the halfway line, played a neat one-two with Tomas Rosicky and smashing the ball into the bottom corner. It was a wonderful effort and he looked delighted.

Marek Hamsik scored the 6th goal with a tap in after van Persie played a back heel through his marker's legs to leave the goal at the Slovakian's mercy. The scoring was finished in the 73rd minute with a Hamsik penalty, the ball was placed in the bottom corner and had left keeper Ben Foster with no chance.

Tottenham 2-0 Arsenal
In a dubious game at the lane, Arsenal will be wondering how they have lost this game. With many chances and a good penalty shouts turned down manager Liam Byrne said that his counterpart Harry Redknapp was "spot on" with his tactics and said that he wished him well with the rest of his season.

Arsenal dominated early proceedings and were denied a penalty after ex-Gunner's captain William Gallas hacked down Samir Nasri who had prior to the game has called Gallas a "traitor". Gareth Bale then limped off injured after a strong tackle by Alex Song. On 20 minutes Jermaine Defoe slotted home Tottenham's first chance, (due to having a cold first choice goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was unavailable) past Manuel Almunia. The Spurs fans were delighted and were chanting Defoe's name.

Arsenal's Robin van Persie twice struck the woodwork and was brought down in the box. William Gallas was again the offender and this time the penalty was given. Young Jack Wilshere took the penalty, and hit the post. Younes Kaboul got back to clear before Wilshere could react. In the 68th minute Aaron Lennon skinned Gael Clichy and placed the ball into Arsenal's net. This was only Tottnham's second shot on target.

Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal
Arsenal fans would have been far from dissapointed after a good result at Stamford Bridge against second placed side Chelsea. However a controversial refereeing decision had Arsenal fans wondering what could have been.

As manager Liam Byrne had said in a pre-match press confrence his team came out all guns blazing and suprised many by starting their two target men upfront; Marouanne Chamakh and Nicklas Bendtner, leaving out Ezequiel Lavezzi, Gabby Agbonlahor and Robin van Persie. However this seemed to have been a good call by manager Byrne as the pair seemed to hastle John Terry and Branislov Ivanovic all night.

The questionable refereeing decision came in the 27th minute when Marouanne Chamakh out-muscled Ivanovic and poked the ball to Bendtner who put the ball into the far corner not giving Petr Cech a chance. However the assistant had his flag up and dissallowed the goal.

Ezequiel Lavezzi got Arsenal off to a flyer after a wonderful assist from ever-present captain, Cesc Fabregas which left him one on one with the keeper. Many pundits have commented that Lavezzi is struggling in the Premiership, however manager Byrne, 41 has said that it is too early to judge Lavezzi as he is still settling in.

Centre back Tom Hoffman headed the ball into his own net after a Samir Nasri corner had left the Marseille back line confused.

Arsene Wenger has also been quoted as to saying "This is Arsenal's year".

Ezequiel Lavezzi netted his first league goal in an Arsenal shirt early on to silence the Manchester City faithful. Cultured forward Robin van Persie smashed the ball home in extraordinary fashion from an awkward angle. The Dutchman then netted another delightful goal as he skinned two City defenders before placing the ball into the far corner.
