Are they really anything special or are they basically wingers who cut in occasionally. Ive played this game for a while now and i notice nothing special about the inside forwards placed on AMR and AML, i see them running to the wing, and either crossing or trying to cut into the side of the 18 yard box and then either shooting or passing. Now the prime examples are Messi, Ronaldo, but what i dont get is that neither messi nor ronaldo do what the inside forwards do, they cut into the box, but they cut in diagonally and do not run to the byline then cut in. Is there a way to cut in Diagonally? I would like my inside forwards to take a shot when in the clear but id also like them to put a hard ball across the face of goal for my striker to tap in (Drill crosses)

Any help?

Inside forwards cut inside rather than go outside like a winger. They work best if you put a right footer on the left and vice versa.Good if you play narrower.

i would say classic examples of an inside forwards in real life are antonio cassano and del piero. although im not sure if FM's interpretation of the role allows you to use them as inside forwards, i think they are both just listed as strikers...

They can easily be trained to play there.

Will it be the same type of play if i play them in LM/RM and then ask them to cut in and add the same settings as an inside forward? or will they play differently, i want 2 inside forwards but i already have 2 strikers so at times it would seem that i play a very 424 formation when infact i lose posesion easily in midfield with just 2 center midfielders. please do explain how playing them on their weaker foot's side will help them, wouldnt it just limit them to no crossing the ball at all and just cutting in, which might be a little wasteful if the striker is in good position for a cross

with reagard to having 2 strikers and inside forwards, that probably wont work, as you say, you will get dominated in the middle of the park. in real life cassano palys as an inside forward supporting a lone targetman, not sure how well FM can replicate this though.

as for playing on their weaker foot, think of robben in his early chelsea days, hes a left footer who operated almost exclusively on the right flank, cutting onto his left peg and scoring plenty of spectacular goals fromt he edge of the area

OK if you put RM/LM to cut inside instead of RW/LW, their goal scoring rate wouldn't be as good as naturaly, LM/RM don't really have an eye for goal, more supplying goals.

Secondly, putting wingers on their weaker foot would obviously not help, same in any position. A left winger whose strongest foot is their right WILL work for an inside forward, and vice versa.

A good way to play with two inside forwards is also if you have a defencive midfielder who keeps possesion aswell as breaking down attacks:)

Johnny Haynes was an inside forward, much more common position in 60's, that was before the days of 4-4-2 though and nearly every side played 4-3-3.

The best inside forwards you can have are those that are Attacking Midfielder (Left, Centre), Forward (Centre) or the right side equivalent. Robert Snodgrass at Leeds is a good example or Robinho for Man City. Play them out wide making runs to the opposite side of the box and they will score goals for fun.

Juan Angel Albin at Getafe is a cheap inside forward who is absolutly magical running in from the left hand side. 2 seasons and he will be firing in 20+ goals a season and assisting in the majority of your seasons goals. Much better than Antonio Cassano.

I'd also have Clint Dempsey down as an inside forward, he may play left midfield but you'll never see him anywhere near the touchline.

yeah but he's gay lol

Come on, thats being too mean, hes a good player anyway.

Well now with all said i will try a 4-5-1 with 2 inside forwards.

Also i would like to know which is better for an inside forward, Some one with Class like Del Piero/ Antonio Cassano or just a very pacy winger/striker like Nani/ Agbonlahor?

A good player? 8 out of 10 runs at defenders he makes he loses the ball and the only thing that's keeping him in a pay packet is that he can score goals. But shouldn't he be also creating goals for his team mates also? That is the main fundamental objective of a midfielder.
True, I can't deny he is a good player, but with the arrogance attached it makes him a mediocre player in my view. Bring back Georgi Kinkladze, now there was the definition of inside forward. Also Steve Mcmanaman.

Don't forget he doesnt have to be a winger. a pacy striker will work just as well pushed up one click as long as he has the right stats.
