In this thread, I will be posting about players who I would recommend on FM. If anyone has any future screenshots that you can share, that would be great. I will be looking at lots of different players, for all different levels, not just top league players. My next post will contain my first article.

Gylfi Sigurðsson is currently one of my favourite players on FM. I am currently playing a save where I am managing Swansea, and he has been in exceptional form so far. Just see this screenshot here, 20 goal and 5 assists in 27 games. Currently joint second top scorer, pretty good for a midfielder in my opinion. It may not be his best role, but I have been playing his as a central attacking midfielder, as an attacking inside forward. His natural position is AMC and is accomplished at MC but is also competent playing ST, AMR/L, ML/R.

As you can see from the screenshots, his biggest strength is his set pieces. 16 corners and 18 freekicks and penalty taking. If you put his on set pieces, he will score you goals. He also has 17 long shots, and the shoots from distance PPM, and will grab plenty of goals from range if you give him the freedom to take long shots. His other PPMs are curls ball, Likes to lob keeper and dictates tempo. His passing is also very good, and if I had a better finisher in my Swansea team, his assists would be higher too.

His weaknesses though, are his low work rate, teamwork, pace and acceleration. These can be improved with training though, and I started by putting his individual focus on quickness on heavy intensity. As you can see from the future screenshot (With AI training), he has improved his quickness, and I am sure with custom training, his team work will increase too.

Great thread mate! Looking forward to read about other players :) Gylfi is amazing, my brother bought him and he was insane for his Tottenham save!

If you need any future SS's give me a shout (Got a 2019 save)

Anyone who knows football should have heard of Zé Roberto. The Brazilian playmaker has played for some of the best teams in the world, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Santos. For an older player, I feel his physical stats are excellent. He has really looked after himself, and 20 natural fitness and 18 stamina really shows this. He is also fairly pacey too, with 12 acceleration and 15 pace. His natural position is MC and is an accomplished ML, AML and AMC and competent WBL and DM. He always attracts plenty of attention right at the beginning of the game, and I find that he always joins Valencia for around £46k per week. So if you really want him, I would recommend at least £50k+ per week

He also has excellent stats for a playmaker role. 17 passing, 18 technique and 18 first touch. I havent had the chance to actually manage him yet, but I am sure he will plenty of assists given the right role. I would personally play him in an advanced playmaker attack role. He also has the right PPMs as well. He is always looking to play one-twos, and looks to pass rather than shoot.

He does have two very obvious weaknesses though. He is very poor in the air, and obviously he is very old. He will only last you 1, maybe 2 seasons. But, for a free transfer, what have you got to loose? I cant really recommend any training either, as it wont have any effect.

Villanueva is a player who I have recently discovered after being offered to my by his agent while I was managing Swansea. I have been playing him in both attacking midfield and striker positions. Central Attacking midfielder is his natural position, and accomplished striker, and competent attacking and left midfielder.

Like Sigurðsson, he is an excellent free kick taker, and a very technically gifted player. He possesses excellent Dribbling, First Touch, Long Shots, Penalty Taking and Technique. He is also has loads of flair and creativity, and can play really well as a play maker. He is also another player who will grab you some goals from long range. I would recommend teaching him to try long range shots if you like your players to shoot from range.

I feel his weakness though is his pace and acceleration, but with the right training this could easily be improved. If your wanting to employ him in a striker position, I would also recommend putting his individual focus on finishing until it reaches around 16, and then change it to quickness. Another slight problem could be his adaptability. It isnt the highest, so it may take him a little while to adapt. Be patient though, im sure it will be worth it!
