One thing that has always interested me in my many, many years of football manager gaming is the 'birth nation, other nations eligibility' element. France as a country, due to its colonial history, has many other nations that seem to feed into the national team, e.g. Martinique, La Reunion etc

Yet I've rarely found the same for any other country (apart from the obvious border examples e.g. England & Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Germany & Poland and Austria).

Currently in my fifth season with Vauxhall Motors FC in the English leagues, I've stumbled across a player who is eligible for both England and Hungary. He is playing for the England U21 side, and will most likely play for the English side rather than the Hungarian team, so long as he continues improving and the national team ratings don't change radically in the next few years!

I was wondering if anyone else has come across similar, unusual parentage in players in their games?

Post away, and as always, feel free to comment.

You can get any combination, though the more 'logical' (if you can call it that) combinations are much more common. I signed a Brazil/China eligible player on an old save. It's just pot luck because essentially and eventually any combination of nationalities can be present in footballers of the future. For example; no one will care much if the next Messi/Ronaldo is Slovenian and Russian by heritage, only whom he chooses to represent.

i had a leftback that was belgian-portugese and i've currently got a sammarinese-spaniard and i know the game starts out with an argentine-sammarinese player. i've also got a venezualen-portugese cb in my squad and lille have a danish-bosnian.

Vauxhall in the Championship in 5 seasons?! how?!

Haha Mr Hough's tactic, just make sure you get a decent centre forward and they seem to bang goals in. Obviously I had to chop and change the squad as much as possible at every transfer window, luckily picked up some quality players on the cheap e.g. Alan Smith (fortunately his injuries aren't as realistic on the game!)

I have some Ukrainian/Portuguese players in my squad (Benfica, season 2014-15)
