Hello, and that you all for your tactics. They've been very useful in my enjoyment of this game. So I'd like to share one back that I've had good success with as Liverpool (3 champions leagues in 4 seasons, although only 1 Prem League and 2 runners up). However, this possession-based tactic does produce lovely football to watch, and creates lots of chances and goals. Obviously, not a magic formula.
It is based around the simple idea of working the ball into the box, getting the players in there, and getting the shots on goal. Full backs provide support and crosses. I find that the full backs get lots of assists, and the attacking midfield players get lots of goals (avg. 15 a season). And it has made a real superstar out of Mario Balotelli, fabulous as the false nine.
I adjust the mentality depending on who I'm playing. If I'm away, against a tougher team, I tend to go more defensive or counter attack. At home, against weaker teams, I go more attacking...but it does depend on the team you're facing.
I play FM Classic mode.
