Hi there, i am jsut curious as to peoples thoughts on being one of the top 4 or 5or 6 or whatever it is now i.e man utd, man city, arsenal, chelsea, liverpool and tottenham, is it easy or can it be hard, i seem to read loads about peoples achievments on here and most of them are with the big teams so that leads me to tbelieve that it maybe to easy, what are your thoughts?

I don't think its easy, but its not hard either. If you stick at it you win trophies, if you cheat, your a failed Football Manager, and I agree with Frankie that a lot of people cheat to look good.

a lot of people cheat.

ooh i said it.
I agree and disagree with that...
It's easy for big clubs now but if you only buy first team members and not buy future stars you will struggle. Its easy to win but it's hard to maintain your win streak. Plus, FM 11 has loads of unrealistic events happening now and then.

Big clubs are easy if you have the right tactic and you have a good relationship with your members. Furthermore, they are rich.

It is easier than being a small team, that's for sure.

I think fm has become harder the last few years, fm09 it was not that hard to win a title with a sub topper but now I think it has become harder and easyer with top teams

so who would you lot suggest being in the prem for a challenge then? i have thought blackburn for ages.

Pushing for Champions League: Tottenham, Liverpool, Man City, Everton, Aston Villa.

Mid-table: Bolton, Blackburn, Stoke, Birmingham, Fulham.

Relegation Candidates: Blackpool, Newcastle, West Brom.

Examples of who you might be...

(They are all challenges in their own way.)

I`m in my fourth season with Aston Villa, and I can recommend them for a nice challenge. Some very good players to start with, but lots of room for improvements. Not too hard, not too easy.

aston villa sounds good, what about everton? i have never been everton but thy dont have a lot of cash do they?

Managing a big club is challenging in its own way. There are the higher expectations, big egos in your team, keeping your team motivated and so on. Even the fact that they are rich and you have a big transfer budget is a challenge for me. I'm currently playing with Barcelona and I'm having trouble not signing any players for the 150M I have as there simply isn't any room for them in the team.

Everton have a quite **** transfer founds to start with, but they have quality players and some of them goes for alot of cash if you decide to sell em in the start (Pienaar for example, but he's also the best player in the squad IMO)

But the right tactic and some key players bought and they put up a strong challenge.

My first season with Everton was a soso, Managed 5th place 2 points behind United (if RL super good, but their squad is too good in FM if you ask me)

Never been super teams with strong finances so I cant answer that question, but I guess they are easier than medicore teams (pretty logic ;P)

In one word: YES!

I won the prem division using a JP woody tactic in FM 10 with Everton, they are good challenge, not much money. I also recommend Villa, i got CL football in my first season with them, however its hard to stay at the top with the likes of City and Spurs being very good. I had to settle for 6th the season after. But yes very good challenges are Everton and Villa

I am playing a Man Utd file as i usually do at the beginning, to get used to the new features etc. I'm just starting my second season.

Aside from an embarrassing loss in the first knock out round of the champions league to Brondby (i underestimated them in the first away leg, played kids and lost 8-1!) i have won every trophy and have lost a total of 4 matches.

Playing as a big team is always easy unless you are a total peabrain, I'll be bored in a season or two and will start my LLM file with Cultural Leonesa in Spanish Div 2B1.
