I realize since I put this in the football section, I will probably get biased answers. That was not an accident :) Please elaborate on your answer.

I thought baseball was. Kids play Football (soccer) alot but as they get older they are encouraged to play the american sports.

Taken from Wiki.

Baseball is the oldest of the major American teamsports. Professional baseball dates from 1869 and had no close rivals in popularity until the 1960s; though baseball is no longer the most popular sport it is still referred to as the "national pastime."

Traditionally, it's baseball.

NFL football is the modern past time. The streets will be bare when the Super Bowl comes this Sunday.

Nah,Americans are far too intrested in God,Food,TV and their own self importance to give a rats **** about Football or Soccer as they say.
