playing with ozil as advanced playmaker. he seems to be one of the if not THE best AP in the world, but he doesn't score many goals and doesn't have many assists either. the center forward and the 2 wingers/inside forwards always steal the show. even the CM's behind him have more matches where they shine more than him as well.

i've tried many methods, but the AP player always sucks. they're just there to distribute the balls, rarely see them do anything amazing.

is it the same for everyone? if so, should i just stop using an AP, or is it like a sacrificial role that is important to the team but doesn't get good numbers? or is it just my tactic not incorporating an AP well, and someone have a tactic where the AP is the star of the team in performance?

I have similar feelings about it. When your AP scores or assist he for sure will get a gigher rate(like 7.4, even more), but when he does nothing intresting and finish the match without any he will make a 6.6, 6.8. Same problem with the striker. The ratings are sucks in 17.

Do the roles of the other players in your team take them into the AP's area of the pitch? Inside Forwards, for example, drive infield into the No.10 area, so what does your AP do when that happens? What role is your striker playing? If he's a Complete Forward, a False-9 or a Deep Lying Forward, he will also drop into the space that you'd normally expect the No.10 to be playing in. Watch a couple of matches in the Comprehensive View and watch what your AP does when others enter his area. How can you alter the instructions for the other players to give him his space and provide a target for his passes and throughballs?

Hmmm I have Inside Fwd's and DLF so not a good combo and I too have this AP problem. Im doing a lower league management with a new team and a re-gen star that I have at AP is way too good on paper to be playing Vanarama North but wouldn't make my top 10 best players.

Players with designated playmaker roles in the AMC spot will sometimes get marked out of the game by an opposition DMC. Or he could be getting isolated and not getting service. Or like Rochey B suggests, other players are coming into his space and not really leaving room for penetrative passes but just short side passes that aren't going to threaten much. If you are watching the match - preferably on extended, if not comprehensive, you should be able to see which is happening.

Look at the record of Luca Modric. Gets very few goals or assists every season but has been an integral part of every team he's been in.
