in real life you see managers be assistant managers and vice versa (i.e. carlos queroiz, man utd assistant manager now portugal manager). So can you do this in the game

Well many people find it boring to manage the national team of Guadeloupe, but it's still an option, isn't it? again, realism is the goal, and it's a fact that nearly all managers are assistant managers before they're trusted with a manager job.

yh,i agree it would be nice to be unemployed and become an assistant manger then take over and win stuff.It would feel more realistic than becoming manager of Barcelona or some big club even though you have never done anything in football according to your job history.

It would be kind of pointless really, probably why the game is called Football "Manager" 2009, not Football Assistant Manager 2009 Some people might use the feature for Journeyman stories, but it would be a waste of time really because some people might end up being complete flops and never getting jobs.
