Is there a way to make a cup like Champions League type?

I had an idea which was that i delete the league cup from england and replace it by making a Champions League type for english teams, but i don't think there is a way to make qualifing round then group stage then last 16 etc etc right? because when you make a cup and make it group stage then cup it has to start as group stage right away.

any help?

Yes,there is.

I think its along the lines of putting in registered teams and then making the rules similar to the Champions League.

Not sure about the rest though.
