Jose Mourinho has reiterated his desire to return to the Barclays Premier League to tackle 'unfinished business'.

The Portuguese coach left Chelsea in 2007 after a hugely successful spell at Stamford Bridge before winning the Serie A title and Champions League with Inter Milan last season.

Eyes on the prize: Mourinho won two Premier League titles and an FA Cup during his time at Chelsea

He is currently at Real Madrid in Spain - where he is contracted for another three years - but maintains he is planning to return to England sooner rather than later.

Manchester City would be interested in the former Chelsea man, if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. While neighbours United could also line up a sensational move for Mourinho if Sir Alex Ferguson decides to retire.

'I miss England and my next job will be in England,' he told The Sun. 'There is unfinished business.

Jose's coming home: Mourinho has signalled his desire to return to England

'And I think England wants me back, no? It was the most enjoyable time of my career.'

Focusing on Madrid's fortunes, Mourinho believes his team has the edge on Tottenham and is confident he can end the London club's Champions League odyssey in the quarter-finals.

Spurs' debut Champions League campaign has already delivered famous wins against Inter Milan and AC Milan, and the reward for Harry Redknapp's side is a glamourous last-eight encounter against the Spanish giants.

Waiting in the wings: Mourinho is one of the favourites to replace Fergie at United

Mourinho concedes he has some misgivings about coming up against the tournament dark horses, but admits he is at least approaching the tie with more relish than he did last year's last-16 encounter with former club Chelsea.

Making his point: Redknapp will line up against Jose in the Champions League

'I didn't want Chelsea-Inter, because last season it was difficult to play against Chelsea,' he told BBC Radio 5.

'I did it, and I did everything I could to help my team, but I was not comfortable. I don't like to play against my friends.

'Any team is difficult and any team is a motivation for us. Tottenham are a good team: they beat Inter, they beat Milan, they have ambitions, they have a very good team and a good manager.

'You can feel that it is a happy team, and happy teams are dangerous teams.'

Asked whether Spurs could produce an upset and go all the way, Mourinho added: 'It's possible. They have a not very easy draw, but they have not had an easy draw from the beginning.'
Mourinho's former captain at Chelsea, John Terry, hit the headlines this week after being restored as England skipper a year after losing the armband following revelations about his private life.

The Portuguese refused to comment on the rights and wrongs of the matter, but admitted that England remain in good hands no matter which player dons the armband.

'I don't want to go in that direction, I don't know completely the process. I just think, because I know him, he's a great captain,' he said.

'I have never worked with Rio Ferdinand before, but I have no doubts that Rio is also a great captain.

'For some national teams it is difficult to choose (a captain), in England they have so many people with the character to be captains - Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard.

'The English national team is full of big personalities and big players.'

Well i guess he will go to City, he'd be mad not to go there as he's got everthing made, Champions League football, Money, Players of a decent standard to build on, new stadium, and the challenge of making City League winners again after so many years like he did with Chelsea, there would be really no point in him going to United as he'd have nothing to acheive. He likes making his history and creating a legacy that's the thing he loves most. And i very much doubt United will offer him a wage like City might, he wouldn't be able to spend big as United are a bit skint, City will be the force in this country in the next couple of years. And their might be a small chance of him returning to Chelsea? Although he respects Fergie he would forever be in his shadow at United, he see's himself as the main man, and United are already of a stature he can not better.

I can only see him going to City or back to Chelsea to be honest, i can't see Fergie going in the next few years. If he goes to City he'd get whatever he needs with vertually more control than he would get going back to Chelsea. So Mancini's days are numbered i think. The challenge of taking it to United as a rival and making City a major force and with the resources he'll have will be what Jose craves! He wants to make history he's said that many times so City is the destination i feel he will go to.

Arsenal is calling. Please Mr USmanov safe this club by taking over and bringing in the Special one. When Chelsea signed him they were an average club but see where they are now.

lol Utd better get him quick - Mourinho at City would so spell the end for Utd!! - TStarr, Thelwall, UK, 23/3/2011 12:38 Er, don't think so! City'd better get him then United can carry on winning while the other lot self-destruct as Mourinho does his customary falling-out with the owners.

It'll probably be Man City as they have the money needed to finance players Mourinho would want to buy. Mourinho and Abramovich don't have the best of relatioships so I don't expect him to return to Chelsea.

Could this not just go in the Jose Mourinho thread?...

I will never take Jose's words seriously. He has flirted more with Inter than any other club. Then he did with United then Chelsea.

I have always insisted he'll make a return to England. I'm not sure which club he'll be making his re-appearance at, though. I'm thinking either a second stint at Chelsea, or a few years at Manchester United.

I honestly dont think he has got a chance in **** at managing Man Utd when Fergie leaves, i think Guardiola has got his name written all over that job.
Mourinho would be a perfect manager for Man City in my opinion because they have loads of money to spend, he did the same sort of job at Chelsea AND he would be given complete control of all football related matters which is something he is pining for at Real Madrid. 6 months ago i would have loved to see him at Liverpool but we are King Kenny all the way now.

Also, off topic slightly so apologies but, i think he is a cert to manage the England national team eventually which would be great. He has openly said that he doesnt want to manage at an international level yet but when that time comes i think he is more likely to manage us more than his native Portugal.

I don't care where he goes, Mourinho back in England will make the Premiership a better league. He has been missed. I can see him going to a number of teams, such as Man City if Mancini fails to progress them to "the next level", Man Utd as Fergie's replacement (if he ever retires), Spurs (if Redknapp becomes England manager after Capello), or maybe Swindon, after he visits and falls in love with the design of the Magic Roundabout.

Well there's always hope...

Outside bets on Liverpool next season have been fluttered around...

quite far fetched

Was there any need for all the links etc. underneath the story?

It all depends on Kenny, if he wants to stay then he will stay because the owners will want to keep the supporters onside. If he decides at the end of the season that its not for him then its a possibility but all the noises he is making at the minute suggest he wants to stay for the longhaul.
Either way, in Kenny we trust!

It will be either of the Manchester clubs IMO, don't see him returning to Chelsea where he had relatively great success and for some reason I just don't see Liverpool as a viable option for him. I'm thinking Manchester City for the insane amount of funding if Ferguson doesn't retire before his return.

Yeah, can the OP be cleaned up a bit by the poster or a mod? Far too long and messy.

I think City is the only feasible place for him really. United, Arsenal, Liverpool each have their icons at the helm, Spurs have Redknapp, Chelsea are doubtful unless Abramovich and Jose kiss and make up.

I for one would love to see Mr.Mourinho down at the Emirates in the near future. I think its about time Wenger hung up his managerial boots and took his rightful directors role at Arsenal and allows a new manager to take the reigns. Although i would love to see an English manager take charge like Eddie Howe, the problem is I don't think that some English would be given the time and space to manage in his own way. So i think Mourinho would be the next best thing!!!

hope he comes to arsenal, need to fill cabinet again

S.O.S Jose, we have money, he loves london perfect

**** off Wenger ( past his sell by date)
