This tactic is one that i have been working on and using in my everton side. It is a 4-1-2-2-1 formation that aims on using a deep lying forward that drags centre-halves out of position, which is exploited by two quick inside forwards. Here is an overview of each role and duty and what there job is:
Goalkeeper: Just your standard GK, Key attributes are Handling, Reflexes and one on ones.
RB - Full Back - Defend - A full back that's duty is mainly to stay back and help defensively, he rarely ventures forward. Phil Jagielka played this role for me and i think it is best to re-train one of your CB's (right-footed) to play RB. Key attributes are Positioning, Heading and Pace.
CB'S - Limited Defender - Stopper + Limited Defender - Cover - I have chosen to put these as Limited defenders because in testing it worked really well. The stopper+cover partnership works really well.Put your more pacy defender as the cover defender, and the more dominant aerial defender as your stopped.Key attributes are Anticipation,Positioning and Marking
LB - Full back - Attack - The Left sided defender in my case is the more attacking, he gets forward, supporting attacks regularly and provides crosses into the box.Leighton Baines played it brilliantly for me. Key attributes are Pace, Crossing and Work Rate.
DMC - Anchor Man - Defend - The main job of the anchor man is to break up the play of the other team, Anthony Annan is an unsung hero playing this role for me, they will collect yellow cards though, Be aware. Key attributes are Marking, Tackling and Work rate.
MC - Centre Mid - Support - Needs to be a good all-round midfielder, this player will score goals (Tim cahill scored 11 in 34 playing this for me) so a good finishing stat helps.Key attributes are Stamina, Creativity and passing.
MC - Ball winning Midfielder - Support - He also breaks up play but additionally supports attacks, spreading play to the wide areas for my inside forwards to attack the opposition defence. Key attributes are work rate, stamina and tackling.
AMR + AML - Inside Forward - Attack - These are really the key players in this tactic, They will cut inside and run at the defence when on-the-ball, but when off the ball they make runs beyond the defence, carving out opportunities. try and learn them the PPM's "cut inside" and "try's to beat offside trap". These players will get lots of scoring opportunities so good composure and finishing will help. Key attributes for these players are Pace, Dribbling and Composure
ST - Deep lying Forward - Support - Your striker will look on, whe receiving the ball, holding it up and bringing others into play (your inside forward's and your centre mid) he will also, by coming deep, drag opposition centre backs out of position. Key attributes are Off the Ball,Strength and First Touch.
I am looking for Ten testers, to test this for one season and give feedback, so i can tweak and release a final version!
Constructive criticism will be appreciated.
