Iam sure he has sommat to do with this ..

TOTTENHAM have become the Premiership's first ‘gay friendly' club by launching a campaign against homophobic fans.

Officials at White Hart Lane want to drive out sickening chants aimed at opposing players over their sexuality.

Club spokesman Peter Secchi said last night: "We are fully aware of the spate of homophobic songs and chants that have been creeping into the game lately.

"We will print a warning in our match programme to remind fans that kind of abuse will not be tolerated.

"It's something we have spoken to the Premier League about and we hope this lead is followed by other clubs."

Taboo

Homosexuality is still a major taboo in football, but Spurs hope to change that.

Arsenal player Sol Campbell was the victim of homophobic abuse when he last played Spurs, his former club.

Tottenham will make it even easier for fans to shop homophobic hooligans.

The club will publish a number to text with the seat and whereabouts of thugs who make anti-gay taunts.

Spurs will place an article in today's program ahead of their clash with Wigan to combat the offensive chanting.

It will say: "We would like to remind supporters that offensive chanting is not an acceptable part of our matchday at the Lane. The club is committed to tackling all forms of discrimination or harassment, whether it concerns race, religion or sexual orientation.

"We all want and enjoyable and tolerant atmosphere in which to enjoy our football and one which reflects well on the club and its supporters. To achieve that everyone has a part to play."

Tottenham's gay-friendly initiative was last night given full governmental backing.

Sports minister Richard Caborn said: "I compliment Spurs on taking such a positive step.

"It sends a significant message to fans that abusive chants on race, colour, creed or sexuality will not be tolerated. My message to the fans is: Be supportive not abusive."
