Jonathan Wilson: Berbatov a misunderstood genius

Its good to see him getting back to the form of when he was playing at Spurs. If he keeps it up for United quite a few of the fans will have to eat humble pie as they have really layed into him when he was not performing. He is a quality player on his day as those who witnessed his time at Tottenham saw that.

But **** he still looks like he could not care sometimes and then in a flash he does something superb. Glad in the end Levy played hardball over it and we got 30 mill for him as anything less we would have been ripped off for a player of his class.

a large section already have if you look at the reaction from sundays game

what makes you say that? rooney being out of form doesnt mean that berbs is in. if anything the strike force becomes more potent. rooneys lack of form isnt from any tactical shift on our part

oh i know that but Rooney has been annonymous lately and i just think when on form he will do more with the ball he will score more goals than Berba he will get all the plaudits and that will make Berba feel unloved.

think you're clutching at straws there. berbs is clearly loved by the players and a considerable section of the fans, which will have grown after being the first united player to smash a hatrick against liverpool in 64 years. the press will always talk about rooney, berbs and the rest of the other players dont care. they just get on with it.

Didnt know which thread to bump.

From redcafe.

Goals + Assists in the EPL 2006-2010
1. Rooney 106
2. Drogba 102
3. Lampard 101
4. Berbatov 100
5. Ronaldo 92 (left in the summer of 2009)
6. Fabregas 90
7. Tevez 85
8. Gerrard 84
9. Torres 77 (arrived a season later, his stats are from 07-08 season onward)

I think those stats are pretty interesting.

Rooney's been the best, Drogba, Lampard and Berbatov are pretty close though. Drogba and Lampard have scored and assisted more goals from set pieces. Which means that in terms of scoring + assist in open play Rooney and Berbatov (only 4 from his goals and assists are from set pieces) have been easily the best.

Actually, in terms of creating and scoring goals in open play Berbatov's been no 1 since the start of the 06/07 season in the PL (as Rooney made assists and scored from set pieces, too.)

Since Berbatov's arrival at OT, Berbatov has contributed 51 PL goals, Rooney 56 PL goals. If you leave aside Rooney's goals from penalties, both have contributed equal amount of goals. That's a bit surprising, as Berbatov has been **** apparently...

The stats are according to the official PL site (Official Site of the Premier League - Barclays Premier League News, Fixtures and Results | Statistics).

So much for calling him Berbaflop. If anything he is Berbatop. Contributed 51 PL goals to Rooney's 56. Never gets the credit he deserves.

Why did you bump both?

Mugbert.

Use the other thread.
