Ali G - The FM Story

View attachment 456794
Political icon Ali G is pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a footballer. East Side Massive representative , MP of Staines, took the reigns last week. In an interview with Non-League football, he had this to say
'I is a legend, init, these ******* can't keep up wit me, I gonna come down wit mi Julie and kick some ***'

Staines aren't predicted very highly, however Ali promises to re-shape the club.

6 months ago MP Ali G ventured into football management for the first time taking over his hometown side of Staines, a less than mediocre outfit in the Skrill South, finishing 18th the season previous, and expected to do the same again. We recap his eventful spell so far.

Transfers
Clearly disappointed with the talent he had in his possessions upon arrival - Ali released all but 3 players - remaking the entire squad.

The famous Arrigo Sacchi ; created by Seanhrfc. Which was a huge factor in the team upheaval, as i wanted players who could fit this tactic well.

So what sort of results did this give Staines?

To summarise I'd say relatively inconsistent. Through the season we've mantained a top 8 place, the majority of that time spent in the playoff spots (2-5). Slightly simmering down in the latter stages, we struggle when lots of games come at once as we lack in depth.

Often select in the Complete Forward role, Theophanous has assisted 10 and scored 8, across 20 league games. He was actually one of the survivors of the Ali G re-make.

Evan Garnett was one of my young transfers. As i lost out on a player due to a work permit, he had to step up into the starting 11, and has scored 14 goals this year.

Up next will be the final six months of the season! Can Staines hold on and exceed expectations, earning a play-off spot?

Thanks for reading all.

We continued our adequate form for the majority of the second part of the season. However we just couldn't sustain it. Our form dropped dramatically in the last 7 games as we couldn't pick up points. We sat 4th prettily before this spell.

It's nowhere near a true reflection of our season where we really looked like we could uproot the league. However we just weren't consistent.

Having been in charge a full season - Ali G, who has so far been a reasonable appointment looked to finish higher than the 13th they achieved the year before. In the pre-season , he was once again a very busy man in the pre-season, as several of his players left due to their contracts finishing.

Tactics
Ali G stuck loyal to seanhrfc's Arrigo Sacchi 442.

Fixtures
So these tactics and additions led the 'G' to an okay set of results, although not as good as the first part of last year.

Key Players

View attachment 456464As Theophanous, Mackie and Felix all left at the end of their contracts, Mulready was a neccessary replacement. Mostly employed in the Advanced Forward role.

Then there's Musa Manneh, perhaps over-shadowed last year , however this year has been one of the best performers down the left flank.

League Table
So all that leaves us where?

Ali G finished his second season in charge of the TSS side Staines.

Fixtures

View attachment 456419Slightly more consistent than last year, however we dropped to many 'easy' points to achieve a play-off spot.

We finish an acceptable 7th , still an improvement on last year, however I can't help wonder that when the likes of Mulready and Manneh leave at the end of their contracts in the summer , and i can't do much about it, that I'll have to start over again next year. However I'm now trying to get players on 2-3 year deals instead.

Key Players

The goalscorer, 30 goals in 37, such a shame to see him going.

Ashley Lodge

Had a quiet first season , however i renewed him and he's flourished this year, hopefully plays a key part next year.

Anton Sawyer

This guy. I recieved him in my youth intake with a high recommendation, personally didn't see anything that special in his stats, however put him into the senior squad because we were thin on players. He scored 16 in 16.

2015/2016 Season - Staines

Hey guys. After a while of not updating but still playing i've fallen behind, so i'll catch up with myself over the next few posts.

In his 3rd year with Staines, after losing alot of players unwillingly and having to again reshape the squad, Ali G fell away unfortunately from his previous highs at the club, play-off dreams were shattered in a shakey season.

Then after a row with management over an increase in wage budget, Ali G resigned from his local club, stating that he saw his future elsewhere, somewhere more ambitious.
