I guess he will be a replacement for Mahamadou Diarra and should be a good cover in what is a weak defensive midfield area.

I disagree, I don't think it's that weak if you look at it, you've got Lassana Diarra and Gago there aswell, I don't see why they need Khedira unless they're going to sell either of those other two. I know Diarra has fallen out with Madrid from time to time so it's possible and Gago's been linked away from Madrid too so one of those two has surely got to go now.

looking forward to how madrid will lin up next season with all these signings

good signing ... will look out for how he performs at Madrid

Interesting, I didn't think he was particularly outstanding in the World Cup, suprised they didn't opt for De Rossi or maybe Annan, who I think impressed more.

Lucky for Madrid they haven't got this 25 man rule, otherwise they'd be fcked

Ok,not weak as such, however one of them is bound to either be sitting on the bench most of the season or sold off.Khedira will step in to partner Xabi Alonso and Gago/Diarra will have a few games here and there, depending on Mourinho's take on his group of players.

Khedira is a player that can play in the 3 positions of the central midfield so he's more versatile. He wasn't a first choice buy btw. As far as i remember Mourinho's first choices were Schweinsteiger and De Rossi for the DM position. Bayern wanted 50 million € for Schweinsteiger and Roma a similar amount for their player, so Mourinho went for the cheaper option spending 14 million € for a player who's current market value lies at 18 million €. Just like with inter Mourinho's going for the bargains, back then it were Sneijder and Lúcio who joined for a moderate price.

The thing i find interesting about this move is not so much, why have they signed him, but more; has perez relinquished his transfer market power and given mourinho full control when it comes to signing players? Becasue up to now, they've signed Di Maria and Khedira, where's the huge marquee signings, the galactico's if you wish? i think this is where things will change for Madrid and under Mourinho they'll become the European powerhouse they once were. (Unfortunately...)

Got a feeling he might flop, but if this was a Mourinho enforce signing.. it will be intriguing to see how well he does.

Was Di Maria a Mourinho signing? That deal was agreed months ago, but only finalised in recent weeks. The new German lad is a very good signing -- he isn't fancy, but he does a good solid job. Not many teams could lose a player like Ballack and not feel his absence, but Germany did and, tbh, a lot of that was down to this guys talent in allowing more skillfull players to express themselves.

Not my favourite player, but definitely really capable of causing problems to Alonso. However, and just like Max said, it is a sign that either M. Diarra or Gago will leave.

Mourinho had a final word in the purchase value, as he didn't want him for the 30 million € Benfica wanted for him initially. Mourinho only wanted to spend 20 million and the deal ended in an agreement of 25 million €.

But will pay more 11 million € in clauses. 5 in benefits and 6 depending on the goals and games.

He did really well in the World Cup and Mourinho was always after him even before the WC,lets hope his potential does not get lost in the glitz and glamour of the club

real is intrested in özil as well once his contract runs out :) going to be awsome, although i dont want him to leave werder bremen i think he will be worth more and a better player for 2014 WC if he plays for real.....thoughts?
