How to make stripes/hoops on football kits:

For me they are the three fundemental parts of making kits, obviously tweeking and editing templates is the first part and comes with practice but as you get into making kits adding things to templates then making templates (and stripes/hoops) comes into it so you have these as guidance though collars I wouldn't bother about making for the moment and editing them can be quite simple once you have mastered making kits with the pen tool.

Have fun and if you have any questions then please ask,

Very good as always Dec.

Should help the "visual" learners :)

A couple of suggestions after watching last video: I'd recommend using guides (or at least show them to people), makes aligning and symmetry a lot easier, and I'd also make use of layer masks into of physically cutting each layer to the shape of the shirt. Layer masks are far more flexible and can be adjusted easily to remedy any imperfections (often when cutting to shape of base layer you get a bit of the base colours coming through at the edges).

To be honest I don't think guides are the best way to work as they can be hard to get perfect if not done properly and the way I align it makes it a lot easier.

Cutting them into shape it is easier to merge as it saves time once you have the stripes in position plus the base layer is the shape of the shirt.

does anyone know if you can create kits like you have on Photoshop Elements?

save the big one as the .psd , so you can edit it whilst big, once that is saved go on Image > Image size > 250x250 and then click save and change it to .png hope this helps :)

The templates in those videos are no longer working

Her is a PDF tutorial on how to make kits. It was made for 2011 but the method of configing the kits is the same. I wrote it with 2 other guys last year. It also covers making 3d match engine kits and how to config them.
