Recently got my Laptop Back (Finally) and started up FM and found a bit of a tactical relic.
Its a 4-4-2 I made absolutely ages ago. Been Tested on all 3 patches and It's been very very good.
I started a test season with 3 clubs. Arsenal (Top Club, Predicted 4th) Sunderland (Middle Club, Predicted 12th) and Wolves (Bottom Club, Predicted 17th), I've Holidayed through just over half a season now and the results are impressive. We'll start with Arsenal.
This fairly flairy 4-4-2 definately suits them and they are currently sitting top clear by 13 points, highest goalscorers in league and second lowest conceded. Only lost once all season to Man Utd after a seemingly tough week (Chelsea, Spurs, Lpool and then Man Utd) so that was always gonna be hard. They've starred this season and without a doubt should hold it til the end.
Next Up We have Sunderland. Predicted 12th and Sitting 7th, again performing above expectations, though they havn't been shy of losing. The tactic is showing it can work with Mid Level Teams too.
Last but not least is Wolves, currently sitting in 11th so they are definately Over-achieving. Been thoroughly Impressed by them and Steven Fletcher is currently the leagues top scorer. They've been having decent results all season.
Now, to the tactic itself.
THE TACTIC
It's a very British formation but with a very Spanish style of play. Short, Fast Passes with an aim to stretch the pitch as wide as possible to bring in the flying wingers.
The Forwards can be whatever, though they are set to Poacher. It Doesn't matter if your using a big man as there is plenty of crosses. You can even change the roles if you want, its a very flexible system.
The defence is a fairly simple 'Nike' Defence, Very Balanced and Very Solid. You shouldn't Concede to many.
The Midfield is Balanced. One Creative CM and One Defensive one. It Plays amazing.
So Yeah, Just Try it. Its Very Tweakable so if you need to feel free
I doubt I'll be uploading any more tactics for FM 2011 as There doesn't seem to be much Innovation possible.
Have Fun
