LAG in online game?

So I cannot find out if the game is based on the hosts net speed or how it works.

I am in Dallas and have 50+ speeds consistently Gyazo - 2716940e9bc2d126c48b137294f45593.png but the host was on an 8mb connection. It took me 3 in game days to even make a transfer offer.

Is this common for US players playing on UK games? Or was it just based on his low speed?

It could be a combination of a poor processor coupled with low upload speeds. His Network card will have a lot of work to do sending all the information the game needs to appear on your screen. The upload speeds won't be that vital since the data being sent is not chunky or huge but if his processor is not fast enough to handle the demands of the game + the Network demands you're going to have problems.

Servers are super computers for a reason.

So it is based off the hosts machine, it isn't hosted on a server somewhere? So if there is a group of us we just find out who has best machine/net combo and let that person host.
