Laptop trouble

Picked up my laptop after a hard day at school, only to find it refuses to play ANY sound, not even the sound when you adjust the volume! Im gutted as music/audio are the only things I use my laptop for other than FM. Does anyone know what I could do, or has anyone had the same problem ?

try re-installing drivers for sound card

Go to Control Panel and search for the Sounds icon double click and find "reset to defaults" click it and it might work.
