FK Ventspils are one of the top clubs in Latvia. They are appropriately nicknamed the "Champions". They play in the Virisliga (Higher League) of Latvia, the top tier of Latvia of which they've won four times.

Their fiercest rivals are Skonto FC and Metalurgs FC.

2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2013 Latvian Cup Champions

Our preseason was winless, but it isn't as awful as it sounds

We could have won this game. We had 3 clear cut chances but couldn't finish any of them. Keeping it close though against a better team.

Putting ourselves in a 3-0 hole pretty much consigned us to a loss, though it was nice to pull back a couple against one of Slovakia's best teams.

Improving Latvia

Only a single CL spot and three round one Europa League spots. That has to change.

We're tied for first in the league after a very good first month.

Man of the Month: Vladislavs Kozlovs. 6 goals in four matches makes him very worthy of this.
 
I'm putting May and June into one post due to that huge one month break in our fixtures list.

We keep on tearing up the Latvian Higher League, including an important clash with Daugava Riga who are among us in early season title contention.

A 1-0 win over Daugava who were tied with us gives us a huge boost in the head to head tie breaker (the first tiebreaker in Latvia's leagues)

We played Albanian side Tueta in the first qualifying round

We didn't start in the greatest way, but still grabbed 3 big away goals in the first leg.

We get by in the home leg 3-0 to secure qualification into the second round where we play Str?msgodset IF of Norway. Tough draw for sure!

Would've liked to win by more but I'll take this result considering the fixture congestion we have this month.

We get another amateur side in FK Pljavinjas who also don't play in the top 2 tiers of Latvia.

More Europa League and Latvian Cup, as well as some Higher League fixtures tonight. Got lots of fixtures this month!
