League cup is not run anymore

I activated the English leagues up to League 1 just before the 2015/2016 season and now the League cup (Carling/Capital One) is not run anymore. When I go to the competition page it says the tournament begins in 2022. Is there anyway to get the cup to run every season instead of having to wait until 2022?

I know it's just the league cup but I'm managing QPR and would like some silverware soon.

Sounds like a bug.

The League Cup isn't as big as it used to be, but it's still an important cup and it is strange that it would vanish from the game...
