I am playing with Roma but as my profile is English, I want to "learn" italian. Is there an option to do this?

You learn it eventually, just by managing there. Takes about a year I think to become fluent. Does it automatically

No, but you will notice that over time you will gain Italian as a language. If it really bothers you, you could change it with FMRTE.

A year probably.

Another question, some languages are harder to learn am i right? Russian maybe?

Not really. As a manager from Czech Republic I have knowledge of Czech, Slovak and English language. I started my save at Maccabi Haifa, after a half year a gained basic knowledge and after another half year full knowledge of Hebrew language. The same with Arabic while managing Egypt national team. I think these two languages must be hard to learn. Russian is quite easy actually. :P

I dont think there is any set timescale for learning new language, if there was I dont think anyone would be sad enough to time it

You can also set your second nationality to it at the start and you can speak that language.

When people play football manager they like the realism of it, and learning languages seems more natural than just selecting another nationality.

Fair, I was just offering an alternative.

Does it actually make a difference?

Well if you take a job in a country where you can't speak the language, the press conferences normally ask you about it. I don't see why they'd do that if it didn't make a difference - it's probably not a huuge impact though.

I think it can make a difference when playing the matches. If the manager can't yell at the players what to do, they could risk losing. Same with communication between players... I think you have to imagine the manager as not someone that is just inactive through out the matches.

Often thought there should be an option when you create a manager to select languages you speak.

Unless your Fabio Capello, of course. He's been manager for England for a few years now, and I think he still only knows about 20 words.........

It probably makes a slight difference in the game. Coaches have an adaptability rating too, right? So, a coach that is better at adapting may learn a language faster.

As for real life, playing footy with a bunch of Koreans really helped me improve my Korean, especially because I had to think and speak fast. But it only went so far as directions, or things I had to say in the game, we really weren't having deep philosophical conversations in Korean after matches.
