I was wondering if anyone played a player in their first team even though your assisstant manger has picked someone else, and if so who did you leave out and who for?
yes i always do this, i am playing with leeds and usually the *** man chooses john fleck to play left mid but i use keith treacy instead and stick fleck upfront
It depends how good your assistant manager is. I believe that they may pick the team on who is the best player at the club for that position rather than who is on form at the moment. Currently I am leaving out my best striker most games because a youngster is playing really well. The best striker is a better finisher but the youngster has more pace which is creating more problems. If I left it to the assistant he would probably pick the best player.
I only usually let my *** man pick a few first 11s only after I win the league, just for the heck of it... who knows it maybe help better his stats??!! oO)
But, Phelan's not bad with his team picking's.. only that somehow he always picks Fabio as RB and Rafael as LB...
i base my first 11 on what he says but it is never exact. plus i have a youngster called matej rapnik and he seems to choose him over alan sheehan even tho he is on better form and his stats are better :O
I sometimes let them pick the team just to see who they think should play, but generally they don't understand what I expect players to do in the tactic.
That sounds like Clough's approach to players disagreeing with him. "I take him aside for 10 minutes and we discuss things. Then he agrees with me."
I let the best coach (may not actually be my assistant in the lower leagues) choose the teams for the pre-season friendlies as it's good to see players being given roles which may not be the ones I have them down for. Otherwise, I pay no attention to what anyone else thinks about team selection.
