Hi Guys, very rarely do I struggle to find a tactic to suite my team but at the moment I am stumped. I definitely think I have the squad to at least stay up but currently I am sitting 18th after 21 games and I am 5 points a drift of 17th and I have now had 6 demoralising defeats in a row. I was just looking to get some advice on formation and player instructions, I really don't want to be back in the Champ next season! cheers

If you take injuries and form out of the equation then the below is roughly my best team:

GK: Sergio Romero

RB: Sam Byram/Patric
LB: Ashley Cole/
CB: Giuseppe Bellusci, Andre Wisdom, Jason Pearce

RM/W: Jordon Ibe/ Gary Mackay-Steven
DM/CM: Dele Alli, Patric Ekeng, Martin Odergaard
LM/LW: Gary Mackay-Steven, Humam Tariq
AMC: Humam Tariq

ST/FWD: Graziano Pelle/Marco Borriello

That's a good enough team to stay up. With my Leeds team I use a structured/rigid 442 formation at home, with a TM and a P upfront, with a ball winner and DLP in the middle with wingers providing early crosses into the box. Away from home I play a counter attacking 451 with a DM and 2 wingers playing early crosses into the TM or Poacher. What Instructions do you give you players? this will greatly effect how they perform

Tell me about it, I actually felt like it was a very strong team. I have previously changed around the tactics a lot which probably didn’t help. At the moment I am playing a flat back 4 (very error prone), 2 DM’s one an RPM and one BWM, a CM in a Box-to-box role, I have a winger on the left and Inside forward on the right with either a Poacher or Target man up top.

Depending on opposition and home/away, I either have a possession, short passing game and have plenty of pressure on the opposition when defending or I have a long ball tactic as both my forwards are strong and have a good header. Individual instructions are given individually to GK, both DM’s, my CM and the man up top.

One thing that I find very peculiar is that Romero in goal has let in 45 goals in 14 games in all competitions and yet Speroni (my back up) has only let in 15 in 11.. It’s a shame to leave out such a good keeper but I just can’t work out why he ships in so many.

Looks like you're doing pretty much everything that I would do. Maybe the keeper/defence keeps making mistakes because the keeper doesn't speak English? Who knows! I'd drop him until his form improved though. Good luck for the rest of the season though mate!

Good lad! Let me know how you get on/if you need any tips.

Ok I looked at the tactics you suggested mate, I set my team up with the attacking diamond formation and then looked at my next match which was Man City at the Etihad and thought I am going to get slaughtered! Now bearing in mind we had only won 3 games in the league all season and they were all against relegation battlers also. Needless to say I was a bit surprised when this happened..

If we survive this season and go on to bigger and better things, you sir will have a stand at Elland Road named after you haha! Cheers for your help mate!
