Leeds United Season 1.
I've decided that the type of football I want to be playing is going to be a possession based tactic, if we have the ball our opponents can't score so the more we hold the ball the better. I've opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation using the control mentality with a very fluid team shape. i've went for a ball winning midfielder and a deep lying playmaker as my 2 central midfielders to try to help out the defence as much as possible with the other 3 midfielders pushing up to support the striker.

Not really too concerned about how pre season went as this was just a time to try adapt to the new formation for Leeds united so I will jump right into the season. First game of the season is a game away to Millwall. The objective set out by the board is a top half finish although I have set myself a goal of at least the play-offs.

This wasn't part of the script for Kewell's return to Leeds, a 1-0 loss to millwall with not much going on infront of goal. the only positives for me coming from this game is that we controlled the possession slightly despite being away from home which can always be hard. It's obvious to me that we are going to make some really key signings. With not much of a transfer budget being given only £500k I have decided to give the transfer budget to the wage budget and look through the free agents.
Will post more when more has been played, in the mean time if anyone has any advice they would like to give feel free, or just leave a comment you're more than welcome. Lets just hope that Harry Kewell can make Leeds United the force they once were.
When I started to watch football seriously as a youngster Leeds United were one of the top clubs in England. Back then Leeds had top players such as Robbie Keane, Harry Kewell, Rio ferdinand and more. But those days of Champions League semi finals and Premier league football are long gone and Leeds can't even consider themselves one of the better teams in the championship.
I've decided to try bring smiles back to the face of the Leeds United faithful with my attempt of the Leeds United Challenge. First and foremost I need to try get Leeds back into the Premier League. Once this objective is achieved the real work begins, surviving in the English top flight and once again building. My challenge ends when I have won both the league title and at least 1 of the european trophies preferably the Champions League.
So it begins, Controversial owner Massimo Cellino has once again got rid of another manager at Leeds and appointed former fan favourite Harry Kewell as manager.
